Bike Hitch for 1996 21 Ft Sovereign

Can I put a bike hitch on my A/S? Read about "frame separation" on older longer models, so erring on the side of caution seems like a good idea. If the answer is yes, then does anyone have a lightweight design that works? I'm assuming there's nothing I can buy "off the shelf" for this and I don't want to over-engineer a 100# behemoth!! Appreciate any help. Nick

This is just a thought, I have seen and I'm sure you have to, the bike racks that slide into your reciever hitch, you could have your local welding shop make you a light duty one that you could bolt to your frame and use the reciever bike rack. I do not think that you will have a tail droop issue. Now my model I would not do that to but than again maybe I would, my floor is not rotted out like the the ones that are giving troubles. And my frame is in good shape.

My 31 foot had a Red Ant carrier from previous owner and now has separation problem. I would not do it on any model over 26 foot. I would just balance the bike on the bumper with a couple of retainers and bungy cords over the rims and some light weight stand offs to keep it away from the body and buumgy cords. Lossen and rotate the handlebars if necessary. Keep weight to a minumum or carry the bike inside when you travel. I put ours in trailer or back of the truck.

The problem is not so much the length of the trailer but the amount of weight behind the axle, IIRC called lever momentum in physics. Kind of like the fat kid with the skinny kid on the seesaw. Any added weight to the rear bumper is going to cause problems of some type, sooner or later. It just shows up quicker on the longer, older trailers because of where the weight of the tanks and rear bath.
