Airstream Mag - Article on hitch ball angle

Anyone tried or have other info on the article in the latest Airstream Mag on rear angled hitch ball? I'm inclined to try it based on the positives mentioned in the article.

My original set-up was done by CanAm, Andy Thomson's AS dealership, so it has the angled hitch ball. I don't have before and after experience, but I have to say that the rig handles very well.

Had to swerve to avoid merging idiots (who couldn't wait to get on the highway to move all the way over to the left lane, without signalling) on the highway yesterday and everything tracked and responded beautifully.

Count me in as a believer!

I have had three tow vehicles set up by Can-Am. One for a pop-up and two for the Airstreams. I did notice an improvement towing the pop-up after the angle was changed (the previous TV had a vertical ball).
I have had no issues with the trailers following right behind me. No sway either (Reese Dual-Cam). In fact I frequently forget to tighten the Easy Lift Sway Bar and only discover it when I go to unhook. The Sway Bar is kind of a belt/suspenders thing. I don't really need it with with Reese, but better safe than sorry.

I enjoyed Andy's article, but one thing that really confused me about the concept of having an angled ball mount...or at least, the manner in which it was presented, is that this is somehow..."news". like...people don't know about this??
Its in the instructions from your hitch manufacturer. RTFM, as we say in the computer biz.
But apparently, its true. people don't know about this. So kudos to Andy for pointing it out. but if you read your hitch manufacturers instructions, you'll find them to be in alignment (pun intended) w/ Andy's advice.

Did it fit with this?

Adjust the hitch ball height to 'level' the trailer

Adjust the weight distributing bars to 'level' the tow vehicle

Adjust the hitch head angle to 'level' the bars.

Chuck, glad your so smart! My hitch did not come with instructions, oh well, after listening to Odamit tonight I realize I'm not very smart - I didn't understand anything he said.
