Adding a receiver ??

Has anyone added a 2 inch receiver to the rear of their Argosy trailer. I have a 24 foot Argosy trailer, and would like to pull a small motorcycle trailer ?

hi jeff

many threads here on the evils of adding WEIGHT to the rear of stream via an externally mounted receiver...

and EVEN if the motobike/toad was set up with ZERO tongue weight...

there are still issues.
_________

while some states DO allow triple rigs (tv/trailer/trailer)

my understanding is that setup is USUALLY limited to 5th wheel combos...

not conventional towing (on the ball) x 2...
_________

more straight forward, less hazard to the stream and completely legal would be...

rolling the motobike up into a truck bed (or van box) on the tow vehicle.

cheers

Before I knew any better I put receivers on my 73 Sovereign and 71 Tradewind. Never had any separation problems but did have a frame problem in front of the axle on my Sovereign. Did it have anything to do with the hitch? Who knows? More likely the bad axles. I towed a boat trailer that weighed about 500# including the boat. Now I have a smaller boat I car top. I do find the receiver very handy for occasionally towing my blue boy to the dump station.

Has anybody installed a receiver hitch for the purpose of inserting a bike rack for two bicycles?

My 2007 23ft SE has a receiver installed on the back of the trailer. Can it handle a couple of bikes or a Honda gene ?

this is of course one of the most common questions here.

there are perhaps 100s of threads and 1000s of posts on this topic.

with answers from "sure no problem i carry 50 bikes" 2 "no the trailer will explode"...

and every position n b tween.

take a look at the relevant LINKS in the FIRST POST of this thread...

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f483...his-40092.html

some of those threads have LONG exchanges on the topic and lots of pix...

or search using the receiver or hitch terms, TITLES only and many more threads will be excavated.

cheers
