27 Globetrotter and old EazLift 10000# WDH
I am ordering a 27 Globetrotter, I will be towing with a 2021 F150 Lariat FX4, Powerboost, Max Tow, 5.5', and I have a EazLift 10000#, 1000# bar WDH which is over 30 years old. Towed an old Airstream with it among other trailers.
The hitch is fine, it's the current model 48058 but with no sway attachment device. This is the one where the chain things just sit on the frame and a bolt holds them by tension.
Yes sounds ridiculous but already spending so much on the trailer and truck, really don't want to buy a Pro Pride hitch and this old timer has worked flawlessly over the years. I also don't want to introduce any issues to the new Airstream as some have posted on shell to frame separation issues. I need no nightmares.
Anyone using the old EazLift and if so any thoughts?

A sway bar would be a good add-on.

Just my opinion, new trailer, new truck, not the time to scrimp on a critical part of the equation. ProPride [emoji106] and you’ll never be sorry.
Again, just my opinion.

Wait, you want to save the equivalent of about 1% of what you have already spent on a new truck and trailer? The peace of mind that you would have with a new hitch alone is worth the cost.
To use your words, that is ridiculous

not to knock the ProPride train, but one thing it doesn't do for all those bucks, reduce any shock absorption. Which I believe is one of the main issues for problems to start. The jury is out of course. I am more and more convinced of the benefits of the Air Safe system using most compatible WDH's. Sway has a lot to do with proper loading, because in previous Jayco's, Airstreams, etc...I never had sway problems without a sway device using this old EazLift WDH. Not saying I won't now, but scrimping is not necessarily true if 3000+ does no better than say a 1000 dollar unit. Sometimes I think we convince ourselves because we paid so much it has to be the best or better.

I actually purchased mine second hand and got a GREAT deal, that being said, I would gladly pay retail to replace it if needed. It’s that good.

PP3. Two words: no sway.

I enjoy my Equalizer hitch. It looks like they have gone up in price recently. But, it's a good hitch for my 26' FC.

Adjust the EazLift to 10-12 degrees backward tilt, add not one but two friction sway controls and call it done.
