It will pull (tow) it, but will it control it on the highway, stop it on the highway, and withstand sway, safely! What do your factory specs say about tongue weight and combined vehicle weight?

I wouldn’t recommend it. You will be very tight on payload. If I recall correctly, the X3’s payload is a little bit above 900 lbs, the tongue weight of the Bambi is about 525 dry, and that’s probably understated once loaded. That leaves you at most 400 pounds to play with to carry everything you need to carry in or on the car (passengers, camping gear, tools, WD hitch). Plus, it’s a pretty short wheelbase. You’ll feel the trailer back there.

What year and model of X3?
We had an E83 X3, 3.0si, 6 spd manual, 265 hp. It had more power, better braking, and essentially the same dimensions as our previous E53 X5. The wheelbase isn't as important as the very short rear overhang IMO. The X5 had tow ratings up to 7700 lbs (we had a 6000 lb hitch installed on ours). The OE hitch we had on our X3 was rated for 3500 lbs. It towed that, or a little more, very well. Excellent towing platform. If we had wanted to tow 5000 lbs we would contact Andy at CanAm RV and ask about whether the OE receiver would benefit from being reinforced. I recall that CanAm referenced towing a 25 with our model of X3, but I don't recall what hitch receiver changes they recommended, if any.
Our X3 had more payload than a friend's RAM1500. He was towing an AS27 at the time.
Later model X3s are either the F25, or G01. I haven't towed with either of those. CanAm would be a good source of info on those.
