Used diesel for $20000

Looking for some advice here, over the last couple of years piorities have changed, my current sistuation is the 1/2 ton pulling the Airstream and the girlfriend's truck pulling the boat. The boat has become a very important part of our holidays, but it doesn't make sense taking 2 vehciles everywhere we go and we would like to explore further away from home and then that makes absoutly no sense. Don't worry we are keeping the Airstream, but it will be parked at a seasonal lot at the local provincial park.
The plan is to purchase a 3/4 or 1 tonne dually diesel and a used truck camper. The camper we want requires a 8ft box and the heavier suspension. This unit would allow us to pull the boat and do the exploring we would love to do. My question is what should I stay away from, I'm partial to GM, but I think I will be hard pressed to find one in my price range. What truck would give the most reliablity and value for my dollar? The other option is to buy a used C class motorhome again diesel, again what would be best diesel engine?
Anyhow some advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Couldn't go wrong with a 2003-06 Dodge CTD DRW. My preference is for the NV-5600 6-speed.

I am a Ford man but on Fords, stay away from any 6.0 diesels made from 2003 to 2007, and you will find some nice used 6.0 trucks for cheap, don't be tempted. You can't go wrong with the older 7.3 and any Ford diesel from 2008 to present. If you can find one, a V-10 (6.8 gas) from 2005-2010 with the TorqueShift transmission is highly rated. The other makes, Chevy & Dodge all have their pro's and con's, but there is a reason that Super Duty Fords are the best selling HD trucks on the road and have been for a long time.
