TV opinions needed please

Looking at a Chevy 2500 with a 6.6L Duramax Diesel, Allison Trans, 2015 year model, Z71, 33K miles..

Previous owners an elderly couple who used it for their 5th wheel RV on vacations to Tx couple times a year

Has a tow pkg incl. 3.73 axle, tow mirrors, good hitch, rear view camera, trailer brake controls, ...
Minor appearance dings, 17" wheels.... is this a solid truck ? Any problems with this model/ year etc dealer asking $39K. I just don't know trucks....

The half ton trucks, by the advice of many on the forum might be too much for the FC25 (FB) , this really seems ideal and cheaper than many new half tons round here--- and I can't find any of them ideal for towing at all hereabouts!!

Any opinions welcome and needed...thanks friends!

I have a 2016 Denali version of this truck. Duramax LML engine is a work horse. You will be pleased with this trucks towing ability and payload capacity. It will do all you ask of it and more.

Sounds a little like the little old lady who only drove to church on Sunday. There are a few out there. I've got one!

How many miles? Does the owner have repair, maintanance history?

My brother in law has that same truck, same engine, same gearing, etc. We towed his 5th wheel to Florida. We then towed my 34' Excella from Florida to NC, about 700 miles. It was great! Power to spare was the best part, and could barely feel the trailer back there.
That truck is not even broke in yet!
Those trucks are in demand and usually sell quickly, so don't wait too long.

Thanks for chiming in folks, I will give it more attention in the morning and follow up.

The 5th wheel hookup was still in the bed, sell that and help pay the sales tax!

I expressed my interest in it and said I'd get back with them tomorrow, will keep ya posted 😁

Will follow up on those questions too, the dealer said it was mechanically in great shape and they added a free lifetime powertrain warranty included because it was barely used in great shape

here ya go

Ok, I was looking at the listing for the truck , then when I went to double check the link it wouldn't work and then I couldn't find the vehicle listing either...it may have just been swiped by someone else... will leave the info below jic it's a temporary glitch

It's black, the dealer is DeMontrond Chevrolet, Gulf Freeway (Texas City)
It's pretty well loaded.
vin # 1GCRCPEHXFZ387084
go get it m.hony !!

http://http://www.demontrondchevy.co...make=Chevrolet

I decided not to pursue it, it was alluring but a diesel may not be the best for me, maybe someday but not for a couple years due to it being more needy, and I'll have my hands full getting the new AS down pat to be learning diesel ins and outs too

Hi

At least the truck I get with that VIN is a bit different than the earlier description. Also, the posted link is missing a : after the http in the link.

Hi

If they are all messed up on vehicle descriptions, that's a pretty basic problem. Deliberate or idiocy, who knows. I'd say it's a good place to stay away from either way. My vote is that you lucked out.

I'm always suspicious of low mileage cream puff vehicles at dealerships. Low miles on a diesel is not always a good thing.

Do you mean the PO may have really screwed up the maintenance/care and caused big problems already? I've heard that without proper diesel care you can mess em up spectacularly...?

Always run a carfax. Why would a little old lady buy a pickup to go to church on Sunday? I looked at a 4 year old Duramax with 19k miles one time. The little old lady had a chip installed on it, maybe for grocery trips? Ever gone to truck pull or truck drag races and see what kids do with dad's lease truck on sundays?

If it's a private owner that's one thing. A dealer is another. And $39k is a little steep. The "slight body damage" is a clue. Nothing worse than seeing somebody buy one of those, get stuck with 60 (or more) easy monthly payments of $600, and then need a transmission.

Nothing wrong with buying used, but walk in with cash and talk 'em down. They didn't give the little old lady $39k or even $30k for that truck.
