trying to get a 31' to Ohio from NM - help!

I'm trying to get my 1969 31' Airstream from Silver City, NM to NE Ohio. The Hitch wt. is 520 lbs and the total wt. is 4995 lbs. though I've taken out the fridge. Can someone please give me advice on the best way to get it to Ohio? I don't have a big truck, and I live in an isolated place, but this Airstream is my home and my father is ill and in Ohio so I very much want to take it with me as I already have a patch of land to put it on.

What would be the cheapest/safest route? If I need to buy a used truck, any suggestions? What about hiring someone to haul it to Ohio? Know of any reputable companies or people who would do it from here to OH? Ugh. I am totally overwhelmed.

Is the hitch wt. the thing to look at when looking for a truck to haul it?

Any help/education would be greatly appreciated. kimcup@cybermesa.com

Your looking around 1900 miles at a average of $1.65 per mile that's $3135.00 to have it done.
Fist when was the last time It was on the road? Condition of the breaks, bearings, tires and running lights??
Is It road worth or would It need to be trailed??
I could do It for $2300.00. But how soon do you need to do this??
Can I say this on the forum?? If not, feel free to delete my post!!!

You would need at least a 1/2 ton pick up with a v8 or Suburban type tow vehicle. If you look at the travel trailer ads on ebay they often have information on transporters.

Stick up a request on uship.com . Be very descriptive. You will get several offers within hours and days with obligation. Think of reverse ebay.

I've had good luck with the site.

you can also contact a "drive away" service. Maybe contact a trailer MFG out of Elkhart, see if they are taking FEMA trailers south yet, and instead of them dead heading back, they might haul it for fuel costs.

If you are driving your stuff up here, in a UHAUL or a ryder rental, maybe it has a hitch??
