My 2006 Toyota Tundra, double cab with a shell towed our 23 foot Safari without any difficulty. I would admit it probably was a bit light to towing a 23 foot, but not an issue. Towing was fine, but you needed to be focused on loading and overall weight for the suspension as Daquenzer said. You are pretty well maxed out, no matter what the numbers might say.
A friend towed a 25 foot Arctic Fox trailer with his 2001 Tundra. On an undulating asphalt road with weight in the trailer, the front axle would have reduced contact... with the pavement.
Both our Tundras were 4x4's.
The 2007 Tundra 5.7L towed the 23 foot easily, and the 25 foot International without issues, but probably a bit on the edge of capacity with the shell and loaded.
If you travel on 'flat country' the towing is not an issue. In the Rocky Mountains it is the BRAKING that will become an issue. You will have to learn the 'brake dance' so not to burn your disc brakes. If you can ski the black runs at Colorado ski resorts... you will do fine... up to 23 feet with a 4.7L Tundra.
Twenty seven feet... even I would not attempt that.
Being a bit confident, when the odds are against you can be of some help. Too much confidence can be a liability with anything over 23 feet, marginal at 25 feet and super powers at 27 feet and beyond.
