Tow vehicle tires

Hi all. Expecting delivery of a 2021 International in a couple months. Excited!

I知 looking for some help on TV tires. My 2018 Silverado 1500 HC is due for new tires and I知 back and forth on the Michelin LTX m/s vs the Defender LTX vs LTX m/s2.

I知 seeing varying reviews. A lot of criticisms on the defender LTX as loud and uncomfortable. I love my truck and the way it rides and if I had to choose it seems like the m/s2 have the better ride?

I壇 love to hear some opinions and experiences.

How large is the trailer? If you are near the limits of the truck, traction is the biggest concern. I’d figure on the type of road conditions you are expected to encounter and get tires that do best for those conditions. I would not follow the advice of anecdotal comments From a forum. Just me.

Check Tire Rack yet?

Have you checked out different tires and ratings on TireRack.com?

I like the fact you can see ratings in different categories (wet, dry, snow, noise/comfort) and reviews by actual owners. They値l offer advice via chat or over the phone. By the way, they have their own test track and do a good job reporting the results.

Let us know what you end up purchasing.

I put Defenders on my Tundra a few years back. I now have 50K+ miles (all towing) and there is still plenty of miles left. I will get these tires again when it is time.

Btw, I値l be towing a 25 FBT AS.

Yeah been to the sites and engaged the BOTs, and just got the canned responses.

I知 ready to pull the trigger on Defender LTX M/S but I知 seeing some horrible feedback on them on tire discounters.com. Rides like 擢red Flintstone, tramlining, etc. I知 thinking the latter could be due to over inflation.

Seems like a split on the reviews. You either love em or hate em.

very satisfied with Defender LTX M/S

I put Mich. Defender LTX M/S on my Ford F-150.

I am very satisfied with them both when not towing and when towing my 2017 25 FC.

Check out Tire Rack. Owners like the defender but the new Agilis is liked much more though it is still new. The consumer reviews don't quite match with the track tests Tire Rack does but they are in the ballpark. Wet and then dry traction is most important when towing. The Continental did best in the direct test. Unfortunate neither the Michelins were tested.
