Tow vehicle running boards question

I recently purchased a 2019 GMC Sierra Denali 2500 HD Duramax tow vehicle. Everything is great except the factory running boards are too high off the ground for my wife to enter and exit the vehicle comfortably (very bad knees). I've inquired of my local dealers and looked online, and nobody seems to sell longer brackets that would lower the height of the running boards. There do seem to be a number of after-market power running boards that automatically deploy when you open a door (e.g., AMP Research), but they're pretty expensive and I'd have to remove the perfectly good running boards currently on the vehicle. Any thoughts or suggestions?

We used a 'Step up to be tall- Sit down to be small' plastic step for our young kids to get in and out of our pickup. Before letting them out, set the step out to use. Once they were out, or in, you put the step away.

Very inexpensive and works 100% of the time. Any weather. And... you help that young lady of yours each time going in and out and be the gentleman as always.

I went ahead and put the power running boards on our 2500 Dodge. One of the best things we have done to make the truck useful for us. My wife had 2 knee replacements and a sore hip and she prefers the truck with the boards to most cars. It is an everyday driver plus towing so we have gotten our use out of them in the 10 years or so.

Yep if you are able to buy a new truck definitely get the power running boards. I read someware on here that they are lower than the fixed ones. We just got a new 2019 Ford F-250 and I’m sure glad we got them.

Thanks, all. Looks like I may have to bite the bullet and get power boards, as the Missus will likely not have the patience to pull out and stow a short step each time she gets in the truck (getting out is more of the problem, and it seems it would be difficult to deploy the portable step if she's in the truck alone). Bill, what power boards did you purchase? There seems to be quite a few to choose from.

If you but the electric rb’s you can probably unload your new, slightly used running boards for a decent price. Offsets the cost of the new ones quite a bit.

Another advantage of the power running boards is that you don't forget the stool in the rest area west of St. Louis when the person in need has gotten in and you shut the door for her and go around the front of the truck instead of the back like you normally do.

Not sure brand. I had Line-x supply and install them. Sooner or later a stool is going to wobble or slip or be positioned wrong. And there is no grab handle like on a trailer door.
