tow vehicle link

at another site the discussion was on the pro's and con' s of medium trucks for towing large 5th wheels.
one person liked the hp,torque, gearing of a tractor over meduim duty trucks.
the link is from the discussion but it is the trailer that is interesting in this photo.

I saw Don in NM at the Rocky MT ralley last May. Don bought that truck used before he had a trailer. He wasn't sure if he was getting a reg trailer or a fiver. The truck is set to do both. (Just not at the same time.) The tractor used to have 2 rear axles. He didn't have the need so the front rear axle was removed and the second rear axle was moved up and bolted in place. His truck had about 750K mile on it when he bought it. Schnieder Trucking was selling it. It still is in the Schnieder Trucking colors.

It was a blast to sit in it. Everyone at the ralley got a chance to get in it and look it over. Oh and we saw his trailer too!

Don must pull some huge vortex behind him with that big air deflector sticking up there. The incremental drag of the trailer must be about zero. I'll bet he doesn't get any bugs on the trailer.

no muss no fuss, and a lot of the time he has to check that he still has a trailer.

There is no weight back there. So he has had made some changes back there to smooth out the ride.

Also note the custom rear wheel fender. This is to keep the trailer clean too.

It was cool to see you too. Did you go inside Don's truck too?

Where will we do the ralley next year?

I am finally healed up from the chiggers.
