Ok, I found the mirror switch. Excellent! I really like that. I probably have more surprised in store too. Should be fun. This is an LS trim. My '07 was an LTZ and yet this one seems more plush inside.

The LT were the more decked out- leather, Bose, rear flip down DVD, sunroof-
What options does this one have?
On our Silverados the LS has 3 across front cloth seat and the LT have a center console and leather seats.

That Bose system has an 8" subwoofer in that big ole center console.
It sounds pretty good.
I wonder what options are gained with the LT package.
The LS you describe sounds like an LT.

We never drive with the radio or sound system on. Very rarely we might play a CD. So, that's the least useful option to me.

I looked up the 2005 'Burb on Edmonds, and they only show four different LS models. No LT models. See here: 2005 Chevrolet Suburban SUV Review | Edmunds.com

Yes, the OEM tow mirrors are extended by placing the side view mirror control mirror selector switch in the center position, and then using the arrows to extend and retract the mirrors.

Also, you will note that all Quadrasteer Suburbans have front roof marker lights, rear fender clearance lights, and rear upper marker lights. These were not decorative items. The Quadrasteer's rear track is five inches wider that the front, and is 82" wide. Federal law requires these lights on vehicles with a track wider than 80". This is the same set of marker lights that are found on dually pick-ups.

Also, be aware that the Quadrasteer's wider track makes it too wide for some automatic car washes. Use caution.

I have attached a couple of photos of my Quadrasteers, The silver on is Daisy. She is a 2004 Chevrolet. The maroon one is Olivia. She is a 2005 GMC Yukon XL. Both are pictured pulling Old Lucy.

Thanks Dan. Yeah, we are planning a trip right away!

Moose, those are beauties. The 5" additional track on rear is hard to see visually. That is amazing. I had no idea about the marker lights rule.

Both of my Quadrasteers are the LT (SLT on the GM) trim level. The 2005 GMC is a four wheel drive with most available options except the built-in GPS. It also has the pull-down DVD player for the back seat.

The 2004 Chevrolet is a two wheel drive, and does not have the DVD, but does have the OEM tow mirrors.

The sun roof option was not available on Quadrasteers because of the roof marker lights.

The Quadrasteer units were manufactured for GM by Dephi Corporation. GM put these four wheel steering units in Chevrolet and GMC 1500 and 2500 pick-up trucks. They also offered the Quadrasteer in Suburban and GMC Yukon XL 2500's. They did not offer this option in the 1500 SUV's as they were equipped with a rear coil spring suspensions and, accordingly, not compatible with the Quadrasteer rear unit.

Quadrasteeer was offered in model years 2002 through 2005.

Hi Brian,

I had a 2004 1/2 ton Sub(1500) and recall it having torsion bar front suspension and leaf springs in the rear. No longer have the vehicle but am pretty sure about the set-up.

To the best of my knowledge, Suburban 1500's starting with the 2000 model year (GMT 800) came with a rear coil spring suspension.

I did a little research trying to verify this. The best that I could come up with is that parts suppliers are offering replacement rear coil springs for Suburban 1500's starting with model year 2000. Leaf springs are offered for Suburban 1500's through 1999.

Hi Brian,

That sounds pretty convincing. I've had 4 Subs so I must have been thinking of an earlier version.

I know what you mean, John. I've had four Subs and two Tahoes over the last twenty years. I am always getting them mixed up in my mind.

The Quadrasteer option never sold very well. It's cost was part of the problem. When introduced in 2002, thw Quadrasteer option cost $5,000. By the last year (2005) it had come down to $2,000, still a fairly high priced option.

Accordingly, GM vehicle with this feature are somewhat rare. Most of the Quadrasteer unit were installed in pick-up trucks. Quadrasteer Suburbans are a really rare duck. I don't have any production numbers, but I have rarely6 seen Quadsasteer Suburbans other than mine. The Quadrasteer Suburbans are very easy to spot with the all the running lights.

Send a message via AIM to AxelBruijnis
happy european QS owner

In his posts on this forum, MOOSETAGS convinced me about quadrasteer in 2005 , and i bought one in 2006 (the 04 model) and had it shipped over to europe.

Due to our very weird road tax system, this vehicle is more expensive to own then just about any other vehicle here, but towing a 32 foot airstream through Europe, makes it worth it..

The only issue i have had wilt Quadrasteer is in thread : http://www.airforums.com/forums/f463...rts-65806.html

This was caused by the custom exhaust that the original owner had installed.
