Suburban 1500 - tow vehicle?

Well, once upon a time I had a 2500 Suburban gasser. Would pass anything but a gas station.
But ye gods and little fishes, it was a comfortable, secure tow vehicle. IVE GOT A.Nissan NV 3500 that has its charms, but has a HIGH center of gravity, and the drivers seat is very uncomfortable to.drive more than 2 hours in.

I have a repair guy who is interested in buying the van, and I am torn. Is there a Captains chair that is super comfortable which can be put into the van... or would a super.cushy Suburban 1500 be safe as a tow vehicle?

Seems like this is going to depend on things like your tongue weight, how much stuff you carry in the TV, etc.

My Suburban 2500 has a bunch of spare capacity left even after the tongue weight and cargo is calculated, but I don't think I'd do so well with the 1500.

What's the curb weight, GVWR and rear axle rating on the 1500?

Forgot about the Ford Expedition! That may work.
You hit the bullseye on the burb... might have to replace the whole rear end to provide the oomph needed.

Missed this part of your original post...

If the problem is the comfort of the drivers seat, have you considered taking it to an auto upholstery shop and having them rework the cushions? A good shop can do wonders in making a factory seat more comfortable and better able to fit your body.

This is a very good idea. After 20 years the driver’s seat in our Yukon Denali had become quite uncomfortable and for only a couple hundred dollars an upholstery shop made it better than new.

Rachel really likes her Expedition. This is her 2nd one and it seems to have all the juice she needs to pull the horse trailer or their flatbed hauler, fully loaded with hay or building supplies. I am really impressed with my F150 with the max tow pkg. The extra leaf spring allowed no squat when we hitched up the trailer, twin turbos gave plenty of "go power" in the mountains and get's decent milage as a daily driver.
