Shocks for 1999 Suburban 3/4-ton
Coming back from a chapter rally this weekend I noticed that my Suburban is taking longer than it should to settle down after dips and bumps in the road. My thought is that it's time for new shocks. Can't tell by looking how old my shocks are, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're still the original ones. If not that, than some very old OEM shocks.
So the question - what shocks to get as replacements?
Right now the rear shocks are spring-assist shocks - the kind with the coil helper spring on them. Guessing that this is to provide a bit of additional load support.
Read lots about the Bilstein shocks, but don't see any with the assist springs. Monroe has something similar to what's on there now.
Not sure which way to go with this.
Also, not sure if I want to do this myself or not. Anyone change shocks on a Suburban of this series that can report on how difficult it was?
