Exclamation RECALL ALERT: 2015 & 2016 Chevrolet 2500HD & GMC 2500HD brake pedal

Per an article on Car and Driver's site, a recall has recently been issued against 2015 & 2016 2500HD pickups from Chevrolet and GMC. It appears that it's an assembly issue rather than a design issue, a nut can loosen on the brake pedal pivot making it difficult or impossible to apply the brakes.

I posted this because it's a potentially important safety issue, especially if it happened while towing. Do not use this thread as an opportunity for brand-bashing, please.

Thanks for posting David, good service to the many owners of these models. Band bashing? I'm a VW TDI owner, who would ever do that.

The bulletin is released and dealers only have to apply thread locker that the supplier apparently neglected to do. Look your VIN up on NHTSA, Chevrolet or GMC website to see if yours is involved. We are still working the supplier records to determine absolute completeness of affected VINS.

My admonition may limit the popularity of the thread but I want people to read the first post in this case, not the 100th.

It surprises me that this has so few views in 15 hrs. Either not that many people have new HD trucks, or safety bores people.

We were notified of this recall yesterday by our dealer. We have a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD.

Thanks for the Recall Alert. First I've heard about it. I have a 2016 GMC 2500 Denali and just called the dealer. My vehicle is on the recall list. Was informed GM is sending out notices to owners. Any dealer can do the update as they all use the same VIN # system for identification purposes.

You don't have to wait for your letter. The VINs are all loaded in the system. If a dealer sees the recall# loaded to your VIN, they can perform right away. As I said above, ALL dealers have the bulletin as of last Friday, IIRC.

Thanks for the heads-up, David. It showed up on my owners page on the GMC website for my truck too. Have an appointment for Monday at the dealer. They said it will take less than 30 minutes.
