RAM 2500 and AMP Bedstep

Just curious if anyone has been using the AMP Bedstep to assist the climb into the bed of the RAM 2500 (or any other truck that requires an aftermarket step assist)?

Or is there any other alternatives?

Thanks!

Here's ours. Is this the one you're talking about? If it is, it works great.

We have the bed step on the back of our Dodge 2500. It works fine. But I do not use it much. A mistake I made is mounting it so that it will not work with the Rocktamers attached. I put mu tool box and my generator in the front of the bed with a pull rope attached to them to slide them toward so I do not often have to reach into the bed.

Nevermind, I was thinking of another step. :/ Now I'm thinking we may need a bed step. I'm always having to pull the ladder out to get into the bed.

I ordered my 2018 F350 with the built in Tailgate step. Best thing I had added to the truck.

I've had one on my 2007 since it was new and it works flawlessly. It's saved a lot of wear and tear on the seats getting in and out of the truck.

Hi, We had one of those on our RAM 3500 Dually that we used to pull a fifth wheel with. I found it too low to the ground when extended to provide the access I wanted (I'm 5'10"). We ended up keeping a step ladder/stool in the bed and used that to hitch/unhitch the fifth wheel and get into the bed.

We just bought a RAM 2500 to pull our new Airstream and I'm also looking for a good step for getting into the bed. Ford must have patented their tailgate step, I had two Fords with that and it worked GREAT, but you can't get it on RAM or GM. I just ordered & returned a 'convert-a-Ball Step Gate' because of poor quality (it arrived all rusty due to poor paint job). Still looking for a good solution...

I would not hesitate.

This should be a standard item from RAM. Use it every time I need to climb in the bed. I would also recommend the tailgate assist.

If this is what you're asking about:

https://www.amazon.com/AMP-Research-...CG370HJGFSG08X

My answer is that I've had one on my Ram for three years, and it works great!!! I wouldn't be without it.

Yes, this is what I'm asking about.

There is also on called the Bestop Trek Step. Not sure one is better than the other as they both do the same thing.

I guess I am just cheap. I use a 4' folding ladder/stool. For in and out of the truck we have black "RHINO" running boards/tube steps.

Had the Amp bedstep on our F250 and bought and installed one on our Ram 2500 within a week of trading. Have to have it. One of the best upgrades we have done to our truck.

I would say that if your BMI > 40, you are short, and have bad knees, the AMP Bed Step will require some nimbleness (and arm strength) to step up and around tail gate support cable. We went with a Gorilla ladder which is a little heavy, a Little Giant may be lighter. Rope to GenSet and tool box good idea!

Even stepping up into the 2500 via factory step is a challenge due to the above.
