Cons:
1. Name the states in which it is legal. Most (if not all) states require the middle unit be a 5th wheel.
2. Go to town in your tow vehicle.

Hi and welcome to the Forums.

With a class A license with a doubles endorsement it is legel. You must have that license and endorsement to pull a TT and a jeep with your pickup up truck.

I've seen it done with an SOB and a boat. A very long setup to change lanes and get around corners.

With an Airstream you will most assuradly damage your trailer in a very expensive way. This is due to the monoque(sp)* design and construction which keeps Airstreams light and on the road for decades.

* SOB's ( some other brand) trailers are built on an indipendant frame. Airstreams the body and frame are joined so each adds strength to the other.

I wouldn't ever do it, legal or no. One can't see the third vehicle in any MEANINGFUL way; the "crack the whip" effect is significant (dangerous), thus, emergency maneuvering ability is reduced to about nothing. I'm surprised that any state still allows it.

There are many reasons I stay far in front or behind commercial vehicles (problems observable, not just the usual safety factors), but any one pulling this rig is the type I either leave way behind or get off the road for a half-hour. Or, turn up the CB 'cause I'm waiting to hear about it from other drivers.
