Because of this thread, I decided to try the Airlift 1000 air bags & installed them on the RAM1500 last night. $155 from Amazon. Took it for a test drive and they speak to me, feel great. Tightened up the rear axle dynamic without any harshness.

Doesn't take much air pressure to boost the rear. I like they are adjustable, 5psi is the min pressure. If the Sumos don't work out might be something to consider.

Also my photo isn't level (white RAM). However, at 19 1/2" ball height it does look nose down a bit. With the airlifts I can place the ball a bit higher.

RealTruck.com for Bilstein shocks

Having a tougher time getting the Bilsteins for my RAM OEM height (the 4600s). Bought from Amazon. The rears came in with damaged boxes and missing hardware in one. The fronts had a long delivery window and so I decided to cancel. Seconds after I did, the Amazon vendor sends me a shipping notification for a UPS delivery the next day. That was yesterday. Today, the delivery date is undefined as all they’ve done is create the label, probably to keep me from canceling. Sketchy.

At any rate, I will return all I got/get from Amazon. Have found a local performance shop here in the Montreal area who says they can get all 4 to me in 3 to 6 business days. Hope they come through. If anyone as a reliable source for Bilsteins here in this neck of the woods, please chime in!

Sorry you had such a hard time sourcing your shocks. Sounds like your local performance shop will come through.

I found mine at RealTruck.com. but they’re currently showing fronts in stock and rears not currently available. That’s the same issue a friend of mine from the forum ran into over the summer.

In case you have an issue with your local shop, I ordered the 4600's for my GMC 2500HD out of Florida from https://www.shockwarehouse.com/. They were in stock and delivered to me in California within 3 days. I purchased from the same outfit for my departed F250 and they were quick and efficient both times. I assume they would ship to Canada.

I would have looked up availability for your RAM on their web site but I didn't know all the details of your truck.

They seem to be low on inventory on these, at least in the US. Here’s hoping there’s a bit more stock here up north. Still haven’t gotten shipping info from the local shop I placed the order with. We shall see!

Question on the Sumos. Did you use the spacer? From the photos, I think you did but just wanted to make sure. Haven’t installed mine yet but just looking at where the bounce stop is right now, it feels like the Sumos will make contact with the axle even without the trailer. But I could be wrong.

I just checked because I couldn’t remember if I used the spacer or not. I did! And there’s a space between the axle and the bottom of the Sumo, enough to slide my fingers under it.

I used my old oil filter wrench to tighten the Sumo on the threaded stud. I’m sure you could do it by hand but I had the wrench on hand.

Hopefully you’ll get a ship date on your shocks!

Before you buy the GEN-Y hitch, make sure you are comfortable with the weight. Well over 50 lbs. I looked into getting one because of a chronic neck issue. But, I didn't want to deal with the excessive (in my opinion) weight of the GEN-Y hitch.

OP here. Sumos installed. Picked up my AS from the dealer’s for warranty repairs. Immediately noticed the improvement. Less bouncing for sure on uneven roads but more stability overall. Noticed it while taking a pretty curved exit. The truck felt more planted. Thanks for the advice folks.

I have also received the Bilsteins. Not installed yet. I have to put on my winter tires. Will do it at the same time. And sadly, I won’t get to try towing with them any time soon. Trailer is winterized. It’ll have to wait until next season!

Ok! Winter tires and Bilstein are on (in addition to the sumos already installed). Test drove without the AS. I have a whole new truck! Way more planted and less bouncy. Terribly happy and cannot wait to tow again... Again, it'll be a while (just got a first big snow dump last weekend) but something to look forward to. Thanks again to this group for the sage advice.
