Joining an 'affiliated' group like Tread Lightly ($100) or Access Fund ($35) gets you invoice less one percent on any Chrysler product. I believe any dealer will honor this and requires no negotiating.

interesting....I have no idea what that is...

How does one find out what "invoice" price is on a given truck?

Cash back is not really cash back. It is another discount. It is applied to the purchase. I bought my truck used off a Toyota dealership lot with a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. It had about 6,000 miles when I bought it in 2008. It has 27,000 miles now. Don't go 66 months like I did. Just go 60. Interest is compounded annually. That just gave them another year to compound interest. 11 notes to go. Countin' 'em down. $6,300 more and she is mine.

By Google maps, you are only about 14 minutes from Birmingham, or is that the market you are talking about?

In any event, if you could save a thousand dollars on a vehicle purchase, just how far WOULD you drive...?

great point. I suspect I will do alot more phone and email haggling too....did not do that last time.

For 1K I would waste an entire day or weekend I suspect...however I have 2 small children and just taking off for a 24 hour period can be tricky....but for convenience I hope to just buy here in the B-ham area. I certainly will extend my searching in a decent radius and see how I do.

Yeah, I probably will do 5 year not 6....I did 4 years on my current car....will be paid off in october this year

Don't get too fancy when you are buying your new TV. I bought a 2008 Tundra double cab with the
SR5 package. It has the same stuff as the Limited except no leather and no steering wheel controls, but it was at least 10k cheaper. I paid 25k out the door for my 2wd double cab Tundra, SR5 5.7L, six speed, tow mirrors, bucket seats, floor shift. It is a beautiful truck. If I were buying a new truck today I just might buy the same truck. Look at all of them and buy the one that you like.

Chrysler "affiliates" are either employees of suppliers to Chrysler or members of (usually) outdoor recreation organizations like Tread Lightly (advocates for off road driving) or Access Fund (mountain climbing). You join, they give you a secret number, you give that number to the dealer, he gives you at worst 1% below invoice plus $75. You can often negotiate even better because the secret number gets the dealer a 2% of invoice credit from Chrysler. I just ordered a new Jeep for about 3.5% below invoice with the Access Fund number. If there are consumer or dealer rebates on a specific model you get those too.

Edmunds.com has a wealth of info including invoice prices, rebates, etc.

Check out Truecar.com. It shows you best and average sale price and will put a bid request out to several dealers. I got a price $4000 less than my local dealer for trade in and new Ford purchase with 0% financing.

Mojo, I saw that site when googling something, and it gave me a "truecar estimate"...looked MUCH better than what I had thought before

With all of these tools, I can get some real solid prices in hand, then "wheel and deal" further if I decide.

If I get lazy, Ill try and find a bit higher mileage TV (say 50-75K) on carmax with their excellent warranty...but so far im not impressed with their pricing for these various models - not terribly bad options though for some diesels...

Thanks for all advice so far you all....Im feeling much more prepared...now I need to get the time to go drive a bunch of them and figure out which I want...I am no where near convinced on which TV I want/need....1/2 tone, 3/4 ton, gas, diesel....I just do not know yet....read ALOT on forum about this topic and I am dizzy

A prediction:
PharmGeek will be a rivet master before he gets a trailer and...
PharmGeek not hold out till next year...
In just a few weeks, at least by Labor Day, PharmGeek will have a 2014 Airstream and a 2014 tow vehicle.
I know how it is. I planned to wait a couple of more (or 20) years. I traded after putting new tires on the other trailer and filling up the propane tanks, neither of which probably helped the resale value, but may have helped the trailer sell more quickly.

Once you do all your research and feel comfortable that you have determined the appropriate price of your target trailer, remember the key issue in negotiating:

You are not negotiating unless you are ready to walk away from a higher price than you know it's worth.

Indeed it is - starting to lose sleep with excitement

Between now though and buying a TV and TT....I will obsess this daily until I have answered every question in my head.

I plan on doing alot of TV test driving next week...I will be off on 6/24 and 6/25 and kids in daycare so I am going to furiously test drive every make/model TV and consider all options there.

Than in mid July, I will pin down which AS model/layout we will settle on.

Then by November, will look aggressively for a nice one on a lot and try and get a good deal. If no luck there, special order for spring (although I just read in another thread that they are not doing any mods that are not stock in build due to high volume )

And there you have it..literally the above writing is on the wall

Not to complicate things further, but...
Our local Ford place has several 2013 F150 Supercrew XLTs for $26,333 or so and a couple of 2013 F250 Supercrew XLs for $30,000.
