New tow vehicle advice

Due to VW emissions federal law suit and settlement, we had to trade-in our Touareg turbo diesel. We have replaced with 2018 VW Atlas with V6. Towing AS Sport 22FB with tow weight of 5000 lbs. Any suggestions from folks out there who are towing with V6? Thanks!

You will get all kinds of expert advice on towing, so won't opine on that.

As a former owner of a '17 22 FB Sport a heads-up. The max GVWR for your rig is only 4500 lbs. If you are at 5000 lbs. the axel is over weight and you may be out of load range for your tires. With a single axel a blow out will not be fun. Not to preach, but suggest you go to a CAT scale and get real world numbers so that you can tow safely and within spec.

I think the OP means the Atlas has a tow rating of 5000 lbs.

Hannahreo,
I’m just about to purchase a 22’ Sport, and have an Atlas as well. How has your experience been so far? Also, did you go with the VW hitch ball or another setup to get a good level tow for your AS?

Thanks for the tips to a new guy!!
