New 2021 Toyota Tundra...

So, I have been doing some research for my next tow vehicle. Love my currrent Tundra, but could use a little more payload for my next TV.
I have heard the new 2021 Tundra will have the Lexus twin turbo V6. That would give it more HP(416), torque(442) and better gas mileage. Combine that with Toyota reliability, and you have my attention. The other rumor is that it it will get 30mpg! That (rumor) came from my local Toyota dealer yesterday. The only way I see that happening is if it is a hybrid, which may be a possibility.
Toyota is typically pretty tight lipped about new models. But, I read today that the Landcruiser wil be scrapping the 5.7L and going to the twin turbo v6 also. So, makes sense for the Tundra to follow suit.
The new Tundra should be out in the fall of 2020. If anyone has any inside information to add, I would be glad to hear your input.

It will only cost $60k!
If Toyota is able to keep the prices in line with current offerings that would be a miracle and be the opposite of what the trends are currently of jacking prices up to stratospheric levels.
They'd get decent market share.
But if they follow suit they'll be left cold as even with the new refresh they'll be out gunned in performance, tech and so forth by the next generation the big three co es out with.
All that said with a grain of salt. IF Toyota does their homework and offers much of the Land cruiser tech as an available option in the Tundra (Ram Power wagon which is available in the Tradesman) and two engine choices by keeping the V8 with increased payload just a smidgen I think we would have a winner. Basically pull out all the stops because you and I both know Toyota won't be back for another decade to refresh it. Toyota needs to throw everything they have available tech wise to compete with the big three NEXT generation 2021 models. Their not just fighting for 2020 but fives years beyond that.
It would be great if they updated the V8 for a possible 3/4 ton. Toyota needs to make one itt would be a winner.

The Tundra refresh stories have varied from a potential Diesel engine to no changes to the speculation above. I’m still towing with my 2012 4x4 Tacoma, and it looks like I need to hang onto it a bit longer until all this plays out.

Plan is to stick with Toyota for the long run.

Same. I can't afford the big three and the repair bills.
From MY perspective a buddy has had his 2015 F-150, 2013 F-250 both break down with repair bills in the thousands. One was going to need a frame off engine fix of some sort while the other was some injectors.
Traded both in for a 2016 F-250. Had my head scratching on that one.
Two co-workers Rams have been recalled and one required long shop time. Both trucks are 2017.
I can't afford to pay for that. Knock on wood My 2006 Sienna to RX350 combined have been an awesome experience and carried me faithfully for 13 years without issue. No trips to the dealership after I bought them except regular preventive maintenance. Spark plugs, water pump (at 200k) battery etc.
Boringly reliable. No drama .
My next truck is a Tundra.

I really hope Toyota increases the payload capacity on the next gen Tundra to meet or exceed other 1/2 ton trucks of today. Better yet, I would love to see a 3/4 ton Toyota truck. My 2017 Tundra is making my decision to buy a 27’ or 30’ Airstream a difficult one.

Yes. I'm sure that the OP is just expressing his opinion that he is a Toyota fan-boy; which is just fine, and I don't blame him one bit.
My dream truck is a Toyota Landcruiser LC79 crew cab 1 ton 4x4. Roll down windows, inline 6 diesel and no turbo; now that's a truck.

A Toyota dealer said to expect a new Toyota Tundra redesigned for Fall 2021 as 1 2022 and a Hybrid engine adapted from the Lexus line. Pretty much what I have read on the Internet.
