Name your a Tow vehicle?

We recently "upgraded" our tow vehicle to a lovely new white Ram 2500.
As I texted pictures of the new truck to a couple of close friends, one quick witted buddy who suggested that I was "compensating..." coined the name that has seemingly stuck...
Say hello to Moby (short for Moby Dick!)
Anyone else name their tow vehicle?

But, of course, we named our tow vehicle. As a matter of fact, we have two tow vehicles and each has their own name. Our 2005 Suburban is Olivia and our 2011 Silverado is Fred. They both take their turns towing our beloved Airstream, Lucy.

We always name our vehicles! Our Ram 2500 is the "Senator". This is because since it cost so much it will need to be long term like most of our legislative senators. We call the 25AS the "Senator's House".

The AS is Argentum (Latin for silver; the chemical symbol for Silver is Ag).

The TV (also a Ram 2500) is therefore Aurum (Latin for gold; the chemical symbol for Gold is Au).

Yes, my minor in college was physical chemistry.

The names I call my TV or AS vary depending on their latest mechanical performance. Most are not printable here.

Like Moosetags, "but of course" we name our vehicles.....truck included. Shiny Pete is our 27fb, and to our GKs, especially our grandson who named the AS Pete when it was new and he was 3, it will always be just Pete. I added the Shiny part when I created our AF logon........ Our granddaughter, now 2 & 1/2 calls every AS she sees Pete......... Pete is actually the naughty guy on the modern Mickey Mouse Clubhouse show that they both enjoy, and good old peg leg Pete from way back in the Disney archives........

As if on a theme (we kinda are Disney buffs) we named our new truck "Chip", after Mrs. Potts Chip from Beauty and the Beast, and as it turned out it addressed the rather nasty chip the truck got in the fender before it ever left the dealership .

Probably more than you wanted to know.......but there you go.

TV = Freedom Machine, as in, when the day comes that I'm actually retired, this is the machine in which I'm going to fully optimize my freedom 😀

TT = Tin Goat for reasons stated many times before in the forums.

Excellent story 'ShinyPete' .

Ours is a Dodge Ram also. My nieces named ours 'Big-D' a good while ago when they were very young, and it stuck. Just seemed to fit.
They have never seen movie ' Hunt for Red October'.

Interesting thing, ( well maybe not all that interesting) we call the GPS unit 'Lucy'

Good thread,
Have a good one,

Does your GPS named Lucy give directions like Lucille Ball in The Long, Long Trailer?

Do we name our Tow Vehicles? Are Airstreams shiny?

Of course we do! After weeks of pondering various catchy names for our new AS, DW suggested we name the TV, 2016 F250 KR, "Tex" because of our many generation Texas heritage and the King Ranch connection (DW's youngest brother was once the #2 person running that famous ranch). It was a no brainer, which is exactly the way you want to name such a thing. I responded with suggesting "Rose" (as in "Yellow Rose of Texas"), and all of a sudden both TV and AS were named, signed, sealed, delivered.

So, we generally do not name our vehicles. My brother does, my sister does, but we don't. And then something interesting happened. We bought an Airstream and started calling her Glimmer. Then we started calling our X5 Bimmer. Guess we name things now. Bimmer and Glimmer like to hang around together and go places. We like it too.

Travel safe and find some smiles. Pat

Indeed, the wife quickly named the TV "SeeMore" the first time she climbed in the cab. Apparently she was used to seeing differentials from her sports car and the change in visuals was overwhelming. It wasn't much later than the trailer was named "Instead" because, when she was explaining why she loved her silver home, she kept saying "we do it instead of...(fill in the blank)"

Name your a Tow vehicle?

Not that creative here. The main TV is referred to as "The big Taco". The older smaller beater truck was "Ghe little Taco". There are also "The Camry" and of course, "The Prius"

As long as they are behaving, the model prefix is not 'Damn...'

Used to have a fleet of Volvos referred to by model number and color if needed. The bad thing that my parts guy recognized my voice when I called, and would name them off by color. I think I called him too darn often. That's why we no longer drive Volvos anymore.

Yup. Engineer. Ex-personal Volvo fleet mechanic. We had 5 of the darn things at one time, and I did all the fixing, including engine overhauls. Sigh. Toyotas don't break as often, so the fleet is all Toyota now.

I made a nice living repairing Volvo years ago...
They lost me when they introduced the 850 and it all went down hill from there!

Toyota's are nice...!
