Is your Bowtie degrading?

We pull with a 2008 Chevy. While waxing this afternoon I noticed the right top of the front Bowtie has moisture behind it and is beginning to degrade. Have others seen this? (Can't figure out how to add the picture . . . hmmm.)

Greg,

You can see the de-lamination spot on ours, the dark spot on the right side of the pic..

If thats what you have and your still under warranty it can be replaced free.

If not, it's not all that expensive and is a pretty easy R&R,(double sided tape).

I have a 2006 and the front bowtie is marginal, but just the other day I noticed that the rear one on the tailgate is flaking off. I love the truck, but it is no wonder why GM had to be bailed out. It is just too bad that the drive train is awesome and over the top, but the rest of the vehicle is not up to par. If I could have the build quality of my Honda Minivan and the drive train of my duramax... that would be an unbeatable combo.

Ah, the "advanced" button - OK

I see. I need to punch the advanced button to see the "manage attachments" so we give it try here.

I guess they probably learned from Ford. The plastic Ford logo in the front of our truck is warping and pulling away from the back. Damn thing is only 11 years old, too. (I don't mean that facetiously, either. I own and like vintage stuff and expect things to hold up, well, more than a couple of measly decades.)

I'll take a look. I bought it used from CarMax in May, before our big western trip. Just turned 35,000.

Greg,

Thought you were talking about the other kind of bowties - I took to wearing them at work a few years before I retired ! I'm sure my co-workers all thought I was nuts but I liked them!

Brian.

PS - My "GMC" Grille emblem is holding up nicely!

Yes, Brian, I liked bow ties in years past, too. The current trend at the office Logo shirts with open collars. I have to work to remember how to tie a tie when the time comes to need one.

Mine is (degrading)

Bought my 2011 Silverado on October 19th. I've got an appointment tomorrow morning at the local Chevy dealer.

Just after it was washed last week I noticed the front bow tie degrading. Could not believe my one month old truck had this problem. Makes me wonder about the "new GM".

As far as I'm concerned the dealer is going to replace it under warranty and I'll go back once a week for a new one if I have to. Perhaps if the "suits" in the top floor see how much they're spending on warranty replacements of the bow tie someday they'll design a new one.

We had a Bowtie, HAD is the key word. The motor blew TWICE in 57,000 miles. Bought it new in 2008. First time it happened at 17,000 miles. Two strikes was enough for me.

Chevy diesels with the Allison tranny have one of the most reliable combo's in the diesel pickup world. However, the GM body, frames and interior are some of the poorest in the industry. I am around alot of "user" types working in harsh environments particularly in the pipeline construction industry. The biggest complaints from GM owners is the truck wears out much faster than the engine/drivetrain.
