Here's Something You Don't See Everyday

My neighbor had his '58 Edsel E out late this afternoon to go to an informal car show and I asked if he'd back it up to the trailer for a few shots. When was the last time you saw an Edsel with a vintage Airstream? Me? Never and it was too unique to pass up.

Enjoy the pix.

Rivet Cool!

Hi Brad,

Your neighbor has a sweet lookin’ Edsel! Thanks for the photo.

As for the thread, you may have just created a monster. I’ll be looking for things to post to it.

Beautiful! My great aunt had an edsel back in the day, and she swore to the very end that that was the nicest car she ever owned, until my teenage dad and his friends raced it up the mountain and busted the push-button transmission. Boy she loved that car!

Sweet looking combo, how do you think it would tow the twink?

They are a nice fit, so timeless together. Two classics together. Just like the song "So happy together."

Not sure how it would actually tow though.

If the Edsel has the "typical" E400 V8, it shouldn't have too much trouble handling any of the Airstream coaches of its era from a power (and physical size) standpoint. My uncle had a very similar '58 Edsel with the E400 and Tele-Touch automatic (Yellow with Brown Coves), and it would have made an excellent towcar, but it was totalled by a tornado about thirty years ago.

Here's something you really have to see!

Eddie the farmer, who provides my storage, also gives me the loan of his 35 year old Land Rover to move my Airstreams around. This vehicle epitomises the longevity and reliability of the great British icon that is this 4x4. I just wish he'd washed it, anytime after about 1975!

Seeing these two great vehicles together makes me all the more keen to get out on the road and stop the traffic!
