Hensley TruControl Gold brake controller?

Does anyone have any experience with this brake controller? I am thinking about buying one. This is the newer model that has the Tri-Axis sensor inside it, not the older one that hooked to the brake Master Cylinder.

They are on eBay for a good price right now and I was thinking about getting one.

We've had a Hensley brake controller for years and are very happy with it. They did replace it for us twice because of display failures with the early units. Third time is the charm, because this one has worked find.

We bought from the factory, so don't know what you might find on eBay. Watch out for those early bad display screens.

You might check with Hensley to see what warranty support they will give on second-hand units. We definitely needed the warranty on the first two.

Wow $38 on ebay and $197 ($100 off from the regular price of $297) from Hensley. Doesn't sound right. Stolen/defective?

I have a Hensley True Gold controller that I purchased in 2009. This is an older model where the display "burns out" and no longer displays. That is what has happened to mine. It still works except for the display. So I wan to replace mine at some point in time.

I called Hensley this morning and I was informed that they have since changed the type of display as this was a problem in the older model. They will give me a discounted price on a new or rebuilt one because I have the old model.

I asked about the ones being sold on e-bay for $39 and was told that they believe that it is the old model being sold.

We have used the Hensley controller for a number of years. The display of the first one started to give out and I don't remember if they replaced it or gave a good discount on a new one.

In any case, we have been very pleased with the controllers.

We had 3 hensley brake contollers on 1 trip last year. Some how we got home safe after we stopped and bought and installed a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Electronic Brake Control. Hensley makes the worse brake contoller i have ever used and only bought it because of the quality of their hitch system. It is very poorly designed, built and functionality.

If it did not have the manual control on it we would have been killed when a semi "T" boned us. All in all when you manually lock up 3 axles you will stop a 34FT AS.

Save your life don't buy this product.

Thanks! I ended up getting a good deal on a Draw-Tite Intella Stop which is a rebranded Tekonsha Prodigy. This Hensley just didn't pass the sniff test, especially thanks to this thread.
