Anyone towing with a Grand Cherokee L V6? What trailer? WDH? Experiences?

I have been towing a Caravel 16rb and it’s been great. I’m curious how it will do with something a bit heavier.

I towed my 16’ Sport w. 2017 Jeep Overland 6 cyl, the Caravel is heavier than the Sport. I was generally satisfied with the Overland. I wasn’t towing in the 8k height , more occasionally in 2-4k levels, performance for me was adequate in 55-60 mph range. Beyond that what your asking, the payload was a limiting factor and I thought the road noise was tiring. I liked the load leveling feature. I think the towing capacity was 6200 Lb and payload around 1200 Lb, but overall for me it was very doable. Hope that helps. Probably something in the neighborhood of a 22’ Sport, not the Caravel that weighs more, I believe with a weight of 4500 Lb would work, I think that where you’re at in weight.

Thanks. The payload on my limited “L” is about 1300. Not an issue for us. Our 16rb Caravel typically weighed about 3800 for how we travel. The L tows a bit nicer then the 2015 limited I had before. The tow capacity is the same at 6200 but the WDH requirement is for 5000 verses 3500. It also has better payload.

GC Pentastar Vs
Been towing a 2106 Bambi 22FB with a Grand Cherokee 6cyl since 2016.
24,000 miles, New jersey to Montana, Wyoming and the Dakotas. Most of New England and Carolinas and WV. Excellent engine and TV. average 15 MPG. No problems in the Rockies, great power. Equalizer Hitch and electric brake controller.
Have to be aware of load capacity and packing, we travel light. Two adults and a small dog.
Enjoy your travels.. Be Safe!

I towed a 19’ Bambi with a Grand Cherokee Overland V6 for a year. Didn’t have any problems but it lacked the power I need for merging and bogged down in the hills. I don’t recommend it.

I tow a 25RB with my Gladiator which has the same v6 and 8 speed auto, it does well. I think don't think the power will be the limitation, more the payload/chassis/wheelbase/cooling.
