I loved my 2016… the suspension was beefy but fine. As to that transmission, it is a very odd thing. Soft shifts, in and out of converter lock… I am sure there was nothing wrong with it but it was not my favorite. If you haven’t driven a HD truck with a modern 10 speed, it is something you should do. I've been driving a 10 speed Duramax and that transmission is the best part of the truck! Clean crisp shifts, always in the right gear, never any hesitation, it is perfect!
If Ram offered an 8 speed or more, I’d buy it.

My F250 rides smoothly and doesn’t beat my Airstream to death.
This is exactly what I ordered. Sterling differential, 3:31 gears, no FX4, no snow plow package, no Max Tow.
I am looking forward to getting it.

I have a 2021 F250, 7.3l “Godzilla” gas engine, towing a 25’ flying cloud. My truck is a supercab 4x4 Lariat, just over 2900lbs payload, plenty for me. I got the 5th wheel prep, just in case, and to possibly help in a resale situation (more capability for the next owner) and I would do it again. I also have the 4.30 rear end, and some have advised that the 4.30 gets a more HD axle but I can’t confirm that for sure. I can say for sure that I am very glad I upgraded from 150 to 250, so much more stable when towing, well worth the trade off in ride stiffness. It is for sure more stiff than a 150, no way around that, but it’s not a deal breaker for us. Hope that helps you.

Thank you, I understand that the 7.3 is a great engine. I am always more interested in a Diesel if it is available.
As to the suspension, I have no doubt that resale will be enhanced with Max Tow, Snow Plow prep and the FX4 Off-road package. I currently own a GMC Denali 2500 with all of these features and I really, really dislike the way it rode from the factory. I debated the front torsion bars and added much better shock absorbers and the difference was amazing. It has 3000 plus pounds of payload (before my modifications) and frankly I don't need or want anything with that capacity. I’d personally be happier if my new Ford came with 2000 pounds of payload and softer springs.
The reason I am trading the GMC in has everything to do with the build quality of the truck. The drivetrain is delightful! I simply purchased a bit of a rattly lemon… the trade in value is currently what I paid new for the truck so I’m going to move on.

To be clear, my F250 does *not* have any upgrades in suspension, no additional towing pkg, etc, just factory stock for the F250 series in that regard. The 5th wheel prep has an additional frame crossmember in the bed (adds weight and strength) but that’s not a suspension item. Diesel wins the towing category hands down in my opinion, but I’ve never had one myself. It also is heavier, good for stability but it eats into your payload quite a bit. I’m happy with gas, don’t tow often enough to balance out the additional maintenance for me, but I always say get what *you* want. Best of luck in your search.

I have the F350 diesel with the towing upgrades. I was using it to commute also. The ride is rough enough that I bought an SUV for a daily driver.

But it rides great when towing. I wouldn’t use anything else. I traded a Ram Cummins Laramie to get this one. Loved the Ram but couldn’t get past that “3” in the VIN.
