Ford F-150 Lighting
Take a look at the airstreams being towed by the Ford al electric Lighting. So far 150,000 orders.

I doubt that F150 towing that big Airstream would get much more than a 100 miles down the road before a recharge is needed. Range, not power, is the issue at this point.

It would be interesting to own one, maybe there will be used ones available from disappointed buyers. I guess time will tell how good they are at towing for any distance at all but I'm betting the majority of purchasers won't use it to tow, most 1/2 ton truck buyers just use them for the family car. I think it's a bit mis-leading for the ad to show one towing a heavy trailer but who knows maybe it will go the distance? I think it's also mis-leading to say it will power your home for 3 days. What is this based on? I don't think you'd get anywhere near 3 days with AC or heat pump use. It's probably based on a modest sized home with gas heat and no AC and emergency rationing.

Ford Lighting range and towing information
Take a look at this link https://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/f15...towing_hauling
Scroll up or down to the "Advanced Towing Systems". I would doubt that Ford would go into this type of advertising and systems engineering to only have a 100 mile range. There would be NO customers.
I along with all of you, need more input from Ford on the towing range. They do say on one page that it will have "up to 2000 lb" payload. I think with the extra range batter, other installed equipment this payload could easily get down to 1,550-1,250 lbs of payload. Still very interesting. Love that front trunk and the electronic dash with that 15" computer screen. Bob

My crystal ball sees the future looooong threads about how much WD is required with the ability to put heavier gear in the frunk.

The latest articles I have read says the 300 mile range is very conservative,,,it’s based on having a 1000lb payload…more like 400 miles empty
Time will tell

It's an advertisement forguds sake...any maker can hook just about anything they make to any AS and move it.

F-150 Lightning
I may be missing something here. However, in my case we often hit the road and drive most of the day. I can cover 600-700 miles in a day sometimes.
Until they have a method or really fast charging an electric vehicle I don’t see them as viable for long distance travel especially towing.
For short trips or maybe even a taxi fleet or something similar I can see the advantages. Definitely not for what I need a truck to do. I think I will stick with my 5.0 litre V8 for now.
Regards,
Keith S.
