A member of our WBCCI unit is on his THIRD 6.0 diesel engined truck. All due to oil leaking issues that have not been able to be solved by Ford. They even did a new shortblock.......

Well, finally!

Of course, I disconnected mine a long time ago, and since we don't tow with cruise control, we don't really miss it. My husband said he'd rather leave it disconnected than let those %^&*@ get their hands on our van (he's convinced that when you go in for recall work, they'll break something else while it's there to run up a bill - paranoid or cautious, you decide)! Well, maybe we'll get that fixed later. First I need to go get our warped rotors taken care of...

Porky,

Is this a fact? Tell me more. My 05 6.0 powered Super Duty has been trouble free.

Not Diesels

I read where the cruise control recall does not include DIESEL models. I will have to track down the website where I got this but it was an official Ford site. I have no idea about a 6.0 recall - I have the 7.3L.

Steph, PM me with year, model, and engine. I will see if I can get Ford to send me one Gratis. It is a simple task, involving a small wrench to make the needed modification. Your hubby should be able to do it in less than 15 minutes, including beverage break.

Look at the front (end away from the booster) of your master cylinder. If it has a small two wire connector screwed into it, that is the part that goes bad. The fix consists of a new screw-in switch, with a fused connector to plug into the old plug.

Mine is the '95 E150 Clubwagon with the 351 V8 engine. My solution was to unplug the switch from the harness for the moment. I'm sure the fix would be a simple repair.

Oh, and my hubby doesn't touch the cars, that's my job

F150 included in recall

The Ford recall included the 1998 F150's too. The modification consisted of an inline connector and harness placed on the switch. It took all of 2 minutes! Don't know if that solved anything. I would feel much better if this was powered through the ignition, so there would be no power when the ignition was turned off! But I guess that would be too logical.

It was suggested, but overruled because of the ignition switch fires...

FWIW I had the recall work done on my 97 F150...finally. The truck has over 300,000 miles on it. Many of them under cruise No fires here

Let me start this by saying that my 2000 Ford F150 with 70000 miles on it has been absolutely trouble free from the moment I purchased it. Yesterday Toyota posted a 40% GAIN in profits and announced it surpassed Ford in sales in the U.S. I think Ford, G.M., Chrysler have lost the war.

Stef, I had my rotors replaced at The Line up shop here in town last summer. The replacements they use are thicker and made better. I have had them on a year now, still no warping. I think they are the Raybestos brand but I couldn't swear to it. Worth checkin out anyway !

Thanks Chris, we might have to give them a call. I remember you saying you had your whole front end rebuilt. At 100k the van is getting to that point where a little preventative maintenance might go a long ways.

Ford Recall

I have a '99 F250 Super Duty 4 X 4 and it is part of the recall. If you want to find out if your rig is included, log onto customersaskford.com, follow the prompts and input your VIN#.
