Ford: Badges? We don't got no stinkin' badges.

Wall Street Journal reported that deliveries of F-series vehicles are being delayed due to supply chain issues regarding Ford-logo badges. They decided that 3D printing was not acceptable quality.

Yeah, this info showed up the Ford Enthusiasts Forum the other day. There were some pretty funny replies and the Treasure of the Sierra Madre featured prominently.

They were also saying that trucks would be delivered without badges and be supplied by dealers later. Supposedly owners would be offered $50 for their trouble.

Saw that too. Rumor has it the Bow Tie Boys are offering to help the Blue Oval Guys by supplying them with a substitute to help get their trucks out complete.

If that's the only choice I think they'd look better without any badges at all!

They’re all made in the same plant. I’ve been there.

Back in the ‘70’s I was a mechanic at a Chevy dealer. We had a Chevy pickup delivered with a GMC tailgate from the factory…. Someone had a sense of humor!

A friend owned a ‘78 Mustang that was delivered with the Mercury Capri hatch. (Bubble style, completely different look) Quality control wasn’t the best. Too bad Ford dropped Mercury. A Cougar badge would fill the space nicely.

What they should do is to mould the badge directly into the grill when they make the part. Like they used to do with the ford truck tailgates. could do that with the other marks and badges too; would make the vehicle about $500 cheaper to the customer

Many many moons ago when I was in South Korea, there was a huge industry there in knock-offs of Western products. You could buy Insulate Gloves by 4M, portable cassette players by SUNY and handbags by GUGGI.

If you asked about them, they would tell you that of course the 4M was at least one better than 3M and the SUNY had brighter sound.

I'm sure if I got ahold of a tailor buddy of mine, he could set you up with a nice FURD oval logo.

2023 f150 HDPP options are available (not as a package)

When I ordered my f-150's, the payload package didn't offer anything you can't add as an independent option—options like 3:73 geared axle, 36-gallon tank, 9.75 gear set, and upgraded springs.
I don't want a 3:73 gear axle for less gas mileage
Upgraded springs: You can achieve the same results with a good WD set-up.
36-gallon tank: A lot of dealers add this option anyway.
So there is your payload package summary. Your f150 will feel the trailer weight more than an SD on uneven, bumpy roads. I had to slam on the brakes on the freeway, and the combination 30 bunk and f150 stopped well. I use a Hensley Arrow hitch, and I wouldn't tow this combination without it. I also wouldn't run this combination out of warranty. The f150 EcoBoost works harder than an SD diesel, though it has plenty of power to motor up the mountain passes I have experienced. While traveling the county, I always find myself parallel parking into spots no longer than my 150. A Super Duty wouldn't work for me. It's all personal preference, give and take.

$10 at the front end of the cost ends up multiplying many times over by the time the consumer gets the product

In 1964/65 a $1 steering support bracket to reduce NVH was left off the original Mustangs because it would cost about $50 by the time it got to the consumer. The part had to be added later because with the higher power engines coming out in newer models the problem got much worse.

I "upgraded" my 7.3 Excursion with an $18 badge. Burns Diesel AND French Fry oil.

Go walk a lot and take a look at the features being deleted on GM vehicles due to the chip shortage. The $50 credits for deleted features on your $80k vehicles cracks me up.

But the Chevy fan boys would proudly drive a block of wood with go kart wheels if it had a bow tie glued on.

From seeing them all on the fleet side, the gm trucks are hands down the worst products in the business right now.

Good luck with the worst driveline in production.

Those would be the best bow-tie badged trucks ever made! :-)

Actually I've had Chevy, Dodge and Ford trucks and liked them all.

The “badge” was always called “marque”, but maybe that word has fallen into disuse. On our truck the marque says Toyota and Tundra and, as always, my truck is better than yours.

The marque is the brand.

On BMWs they call the badge a roundel.

One thing we can all agree on. Let’s not talk about BMW drivers. Can’t be a civilized conversation…oof…
