Someone who lives in Burns Lake, British Columbia has a sister living along the airport/private airstrip in Lincoln, Montana. (This is probably enough incriminating information.)
A Tundra would fit into the area very well.

Amen!
But for those of us who are not flush with cash and need to have our truck do double duty as a daily driver and grocery getter, I had to make a decision. I needed a vehicle that didn't require a stepladder to enter, didn't ride like an 18 wheeler, fit in a common parking space, and didn't cost $$$$.
Some people buy a new 250/350 every year and rave about how great they've been. I wanted to report back in ten years that my Tundra has been trouble free.

We also love our Tundra.
Currently 6 years old and has been trouble free.
I do all the factory recommended maintenance at the dealer.
My co-worker loves my truck and keeps telling me to let him know when I am ready to sell it I keep telling him it will be when his 4 year old is ready to drive it.
We have towed a 22, 25, and now a 27 with it. Equalizer hitch. McKesh mirrors (HIGHLY recommend).
We too feel that the 27 is about as heavy as we could tow and stay within specs. We tend to travel fairly light and pay attention to loads.
This truck is a dream as a daily driver, and towing in the mountains with it's downshift gears gives a great sense of control without the need for much if any braking on downhills.

Well Ray, now that Kazinski is gone, there are only 9 people left here in Lincoln, so likely I may know who your talking about!

We pull a 31 ft classic with out 2012 Tundra. No problems at all. Added airbags to the rear, which helped considerably. Ours did not come with the rear sway bar which I would like to add, but haven't yet. If I could afford it, I would add the Toyota Big Brake Kit, but for now we're using aftermarket cryo drilled rotors with good results.
Good choice

Has anyone tried the extendable mirrors on a Tundra?
You can buy the Toyota branded for $500 or aftermarket lookalikes for $250. They mate to the wiring and use the turn lights and heat.
I currently have a set of CIPA slip on's which work great except they don't feel very secure. I lost one while looking for an exit to save it. Thankfully a replacement was only $25.

Mine came with the factory tow mirrors. IMO they're great, wouldn't tow without them.

I special ordered my current Tundra and included the tow mirrors. Would not tow without them.

I have extendable tow mirrors (genuine Toyota) on my '08 Tundra.
Bought both mirrors (right and left) from a dealer in the mid west for about $400.
Installed them myself in less than 2 hours.

Yes; I purchased a set on Ebay for our 2010 Tundra and they work great. Note that I believe you need to have the fold-back feature on your stock mirrors for it to work on these. Needs to have the wiring harness and switch on the vehicle to work.

I bought the molded to fit K Source brand. They are great! Snap on perfect fit.

I have the OEM towing mirrors on my ‘15. The turn signal and heating works but the blind spot monitoring does not. I was told by the dealer this would happen as the towing mirrors do not have the wiring and I suppose the camera? Not sure if the newer model years have this issue.

Yes!
I tried to maximize the payload by buying the double cab, not crew max, 2 WD, and the lower trim package rather than the leather. 6.5' bed. Tow package. I gave some back with the Leer Tonneau, but it's sure a nice addition and secure.

1/2 ton trucks on dealers lot = no factory installed tow mirrors! This could be a subtle hint that OEM’s do not want us towing trailers with these trucks? Every 1/2 ton I have seen at RV parks around the country are ordered not off a dealer lot. I was visiting a Ford dealer and asked them what one important item was included on F150’s with yow pkg - he did not know the answer. It is an auxiliary transmission cooler. Related question with payload package- still did not know the answer. It is an auxiliary oil cooler. Avoiding aftermarket tow mirrors on our beloved TV’s is a true shame!
I have not seen any comments on the value of F150’s option of a 36 gallon fuel tank in some configurations? I think Tundra’s have a good sized tank option as well? That size might allow some of us to only refuel without the beloved aluminum tiny house behind us? However, we would miss the compliments of others at the gas stations that really like AS’s! Gracie, our 1964 Overlander was taking us on a coast to coast trip in 2018 and a fellow walked up and asked me if my trailer was new! Turns out Gracie was older than this guy!

First trip with new Tundra
I have a 2008 2wd 5.7L Tundra with 116k miles that I love. The payload is 1,475 lbs but with the Lear cap and 400 watts of solar it is probably down to 1,200 lbs. No problems towing as our 66 Tradewind is about 5,000 lbs loaded. The average towing fuel economy has been about 13 mpg. My Tundra has been extremely reliable except for a broken valve spring at 108,000 miles when we were camped fortunately just 50 miles from home. The Toyota dealer replaced all 32 valve springs , about $4,000, before we took an 8,000 mile trip out west then up to Michigan. No issues since the valve spring replacement. I still love my truck.

So Toyota makes a beefy truck with a 10,500# tow rating, a 2" receiver so strong it takes a longer pin, 5.7 lt. engine, and transmission cooler, but is secretly telling you to not pull a utility trailer with your lawnmower in it?
I think you've discovered their evil plot.

When I bought my SR-5 Tundra new in 2008, most came with the powerful 5.7L motor and all of these had the towing package. Now the towing mirrors were a separate option and my truck had this option on the dealers lot. I will admit that most dealers don’t order the Tundras with the towing mirrors. I was lucky. Oh, my out the door cost after the $5,000 rebate and discounts was less than $26,000.

Towing mirrors don't come out of the factory on the Tundras. My salesman said that these are not popular items. You can order them like I did. They go on rather easily I understand if you want to get a pair later.
I have two standard mirrors, new in the box for my 2017. If anyone needs a pair drop me a PM
I wouldn't tow without mirrors and these work pretty good. I had some strap on mirrors and they were always causing issues. I also didn't like putting them on and then taking them off. Get the factory mirrors, you won't regret it .
