If anyone wants to dig half a hole to discover you can dig even... deeper. Look at some general Internet Searches.

If you want to know EVERYTHING, a range of models to my 2016 with the Six Speed, go to this website.

No. I do not have a 10 Speed. SIX is four short of TEN. The 2016 DID NOT have Ten Speed Transmissions. SIX with the Tow/Haul Mode.

No, I did not do this from memory. I read it off my https search engine. Not my transmission and differential... engine.
What part of the clearly written phrase "Also, for new 250 and 350 Powerstroke SuperDuty trucks" was unintelligible?

People looking at new trucks are faced with different choices.

My 2016 F350 Ford... smells new to me. My mistake.

With DEF... even the exhaust does not smell. Some mention the Diesel exhaust smelling. Not mine.

Bcc75 was asking for 'Advice from Airstreamers'. I have owned a 25 foot International. A F150 is marginal, as was my New Tundra's towing a 25 foot. Now, not New, but they were when I had a New Airstrea and a New Toyota.

Marginal. Equalizer Hitch with 1,000 bars was tested and did its job, but it was the tow vehicle that was borderline. The hitch needed the 3" Shank for the F350 and you need to be handsome and strong to lift it and insert it into the hitch.

The same hitch with the F350, 3" shank... SWEET. Rides like NEW... to me.

The F150 and F250 uses the 2.5 inch shank. Check with the supplier if the 750# or 1,000# bar for the Equalizer is best for... you. I have 1000# bars. On the F350... I could probably tow 'on the ball'... but what the Hell, I have these bars, paid for NEW, by the way and no issues.

Test drive a F150, F250 and F350. Make the sales person... cry with frustration. You will not notice a difference in the F250 or F350 other than a couple hundred dollars for the one extra leaf spring on each side, I noticed.

If money is no problem... the F350 Diesel... will out run the F150 Eco 6 towing anything ... maybe. See if the dealer will want to make a video.

Get the Ford rubber mat for the bed of the pickup as part of the deal.

Get the Ford rubber mats for the driver, passenger and back seat floors.

Make sure you have Running Boards to step into the F250/F350. You will need them or a short ladder.

Decide if 2x4 or 4x4 fits your traveling.

Check the Rear End Differential options and what they want to sell you.

I guess I have added enough. I kNEW more that I KNEWed yesterday. Thank you.

We are towing a 27' AS GT. We started towing with a 3.5 EB F-150. The truck has more than enough torque to pull the trailer and mpg wasn't bad. With that said, payload was limited and I was never very comfortable towing on windy days, even with a properly set up weight distribution hitch with sway control. Last summer we made the move to a 6.7L F-250. Night and day difference. The F-150 could do the job, but the F-250 does the job with confidence.

Post #82. The 2016 F350 has a 2.5" shank and hitch receivers. The F250 is also a 2.5". On the Ford 'Forums' they even say they come with 3 inch receivers, so take a tape measure and save yourself some grief. I did...

The F150 uses a 2.0 inch shank and had a 2.0 hitch receiver.

You cannot imagine the different options after 2016 in 2.0", 2.5" and 3.0" Receivers... go to a Ford Truck Forum and then, again, tape measure what you end up with when you drive off the lot.

Just noticed that.

If you go from a 1/2 ton pickup to a 3/4 or 1 ton... the vehicle is HIGHER and you will need to refigure the adjustment to your trailer.

I added a 3 inch lift to my 27 foot International and the change was easy. You can also flip the shank so it is higher off the ground, but be careful that it does not interfere with the tailgate coming down and hitting your 'new configuration'.

If this does not clear things up, you will figure it out yourself, as well. Ford supplies an adapter of a 2 inch shank to fit the 2.5 inch shank at purchase. It is sloppy and I decided it was a wiser move to the larger shank. Ordered on the Internet and it comes to your door step with an address tag... and the shank. No carton. It is... heavy.

Take advice... but the tape measure is always best. Even the Ford Forum has it wrong on the F350 for me. Mine is 2.5 inch. Not... 3.0. So good luck when you buy a tow vehicle and measure.

Ford Forum for 2016 models and then changes:

F-250 gas = 2.5"
F-250 diesel = 2.5"
F-250 diesel w/ Heavy Duty Tow = 3"

F-350 gas = 2.5"
F-350 gas DRW = ???
F-350 diesel SRW / DRW = 3"

F-450 diesel = 3"

A 3.73 is included with HD Payload or the 2.7L Payload package, and available as an option. It's not hard to find this REAL information rather than speculating and spreading disinformation. Essentially any F150 rated by Ford to tow a reasonably-heavy trailer is going to have a 3.55 or 3.73 differential. And MANY diesel SuperDuty trucks will come with a 3.31 diff. This doesn't really matter due to the prodigious torque of the Powerstroke, but having the 3.55 is not some mystical property of a diesel SuperDuty.
I would not rely too heavily on manufacturer's claims of towing capacity, having in mind that these are of the same ilk that had the Toyota pulling the space shuttle. Big difference between hauling a bass boat and a sailboat. But that's just me.

I couldn't care less what you "rely on"; I was writing strictly about what differentials come on which F150, and Ray was just imagining things. I'm not really concerned with towing sailboats either, that's way off topic. I'm quite familiar with how the manufacturers game their numbers to claim the max on each parameter when you can't max them all out at once.

DKB_SATX,
Reading your posts over the past few days have troubled me. I’ve tried not to read more into these. Intended or not, it sure seems you are taking such a defensive and aggressive position to others. So, I went back to the OP’s first inquiry.

Seems your comments on differentials is not addressing their questions.

Nor were Ray's, to which I responded. Nor are many of the others on this thread.

As to being defensive, in the miasma of disinformation to the tune of "If you tow with less than an F450 you're going to kill everyone on the highway" unless I'm actually threatening someone I don't think it's a big issue, but you're welcome to report any post which concerns you and the moderators will consider it. If one of my posts is the one reported, of course I would not weigh in on the decision.

If you're REALLY looking at the posts on this thread, you'd see that when Ray stopped spreading false information about how F150s are configured and actually wrote about his experience towing with his F350, I didn't weigh in at all. People see what they want to see, and agree with what they already agreed with.

Beverly Hillbillies... they had a One Ton

I purchased my F350 Diesel 4x4 after listening to the Beverly Hillbillies Theme Song.

I don't know nothing about anything. I bought my Airstreams from the advice of a neighbor who likes shiny objects. I am as dumb as they come. I watch commercials on television to make my decisions. My dog walks me every day for exercise and does not get lost.

Everyone has an 'opinion'. Leave it at that. This is not a debate over facts, as I see few facts.

I care less if someone uses a 1/2 ton tow vehicle for anything over 23 feet.

Your differential can make a difference in towing and fuel mileage. Make a mistake in judgment... you will not be happy. Your engine can make a difference. Your suspension can make a difference. Having 4x4 when needed can make a difference.

Only YOU know how and where you plan to travel. If anyone has trouble deciding on a Tow Vehicle, AFTER buying an Airstream... case closed.

I go places that require an attention to details, a tow vehicle that can pull up steep grades, down steep grades and carry a load of provisions that will last a week, two or three weeks.

Someday I might need to buy a New and Current tow vehicle. I will not need someone to tell me what I need. Do the homework and tell us how it all worked out. I learned the hard way... listening to... others. That was in 2006.

If I made this stuff up... I would become an Expert and charge for making things up, depending on what I am selling at the moment.

PS I had long ago responded directly to the OP's question.

I was towing my 2019 22' Sport with a 2019 Honda Pilot, which is doable and really was an easy pull. The problem was 'bleeding edge' on the tow vehicle. We didn't have any dogs, children, family, etc. when towing, so their weight wasn't held against my Pilot. My brother-in-law tows a 31' International with an F-150....talk about bleeding edge! Anyway, I bought an 2107 F-250 gasser and just got back from a 3 week trip. Talk about night and day! Smoother, more power available, I'm never going to use a tow vehicle that is close to the bleeding edge again.

When we picked up our 2021 Globetrotter 27’ our TV was a 2019 Yukon with a 7300lb weight limit. After four trips of worrying about weight distribution and getting 8 mpg and stopping every 150 miles for gas we made the change. We now drive a 2021 F-250 diesel. It tows perfectly. Our fuel is 16 mpg while towing. Also we refuel at 400 mile with fuel to spare. It will be worth the wait.
