Exclamation F150 Aftermarket OEM brake control failure

This past week after connecting trailer, all trailer brakes locked up. My wife discovered this as I attempted to pull forward off of level blocks. There was a harsh grinding sound. After trouble shooting, jacking wheels up to see if they would spin ( they would not) with 7 pin connected to TV. I tested the the TV brake pin and was getting a solid 12+ volts with no brake input from TV.

The fact I was a 100 miles from home and needed to clear the COE campground by the next day I opted for old style proportional controller purchased from local RV dealer. There wasn't much choice but needed to get home. The dealer installed for me to save me time. This controller worked fine but I lost all the benefits of the trailer info in the instrument cluster. I also received trailer module fault message at start up. After getting home I went into FORScan and disabled the module and gain eliminating the fault.

Have others on forum experienced failure of OEM aftermarket controller and or the Ford original equipment controller? This may be an issue of you get what you pay for in going with aftermarket instead of original equipment part though Ford had some early problems i believe.

Purchased the OEM aftermarket controller at Amazon ( Ensun JL3Z2C006AA in-Dash Trailer Brake Controller Module for 2015-2020 Ford F150)

So, you purchased the Ford integrated brake controller from a 3rd party and installed it in your truck that didn't have the ITBC from the factory? ("OEM aftermarket" is a confusing mash-up.)

There were some early problems with the integrated brake controller when the current generation of F150s came out, but I haven't heard of a controller failure in a while. Do you have any idea when the one you bought was manufactured?
