Hi, since the F-150 Ecoboost is quite popular for towing Airstream trailers, We would like to know what size trailer you are pulling behind your F-150 Ecoboost pick-up truck. I haven't yet, but I will be towing a 25' Safari behind my F-150 Ecoboost.

We're pulling a 2012 27' Flying Cloud FB with our 2014 F-150 Eco w/ max tow.

First trip was last weekend over the Oregon Coast Range. Truck handled beautifully in Tow / Haul mode. Averaged 11.4 mpg over the (not so steep) mountains and back. Does that fuel burn sound about right?

Formerly a 2013 25FB International, currently a 2015 30' Bunk. The 2013 EcoBoost Max Tow has done an amazing job with both trailers, even out here in the West.

We are pulling a 28' Flying Cloud with a 2014 Eco-boost, with max tow, 3.73 rear end and Firestone air ride on rear axle. We pull long distances with this setup and it handles everything we have thrown at it including several 9% grades

I am getting 10.5-12.5 when pulling my trailer with the EchoBeast. Sometimes better on flat ground with little or no breeze. Nothing out there does exceptionally well when towing.

About the same as my 06 Tundra.

Wow, I would think a half ton PU is a bit small for anything over 25'... Especially up and down grades that we have and I've been on out here in the west...? No?

Towing my 26' 1962 Overlander with my 2014 Ecoboost, CrewCab, 6 1/2 foot bed, 3.55 rear end (daily driver) Have only hauled the trailer 500 miles so far (have put 13K on the truck itself, though), from Denver up through Wyoming to Eastern Montana, through very strong I-25 crosswinds and snow - no special hitch, just the standard a-frame coupler. Averaged about 12 mpg. Bear in mind that those older coaches are narrower, lighter and more aerodynamic than more current models. My trailer originally spec'd at 3750. I was probably over that, but haven't weighed her. Was very, very pleased with the towing performance. No long or steep grades yet, though. Moved into this pickup from a 2000 7.3 PowerStroke diesel - no comparison, of course, but holds its own.

Side note: I added a block heater this past weekend as the pickups destined for sale in Colorado are not considered part of the 'northern fleet' and it didn't come standard. Did fine until -29, then had some issues starting.

2012 Ecoboost max trailer 3.73:

We took a trip out west last September and went north on US 163 thru Monument Valley. As I recall the road grade before you get into Mexican Hat was really steep. 13%?. Truck did magnificently in a driving rainstorm. The tow/haul mode worked great even though I had a death grip on the steering wheel.

Use to tow a 25' FC with a Ford F150 EcoBoost, terrific for that size trailer, but would not go any larger, at least for me. Payload, brakes et all. I did tow a 30' AS with it when we first got the 30' and did not like the overall performance.

We are very happy with our 28' and F150.... It handles the mountains just fine with the tow /haul mode and 6-speed trani. All in all this is a good combination....
I'm not saying a 3/4 ton would not be good also. Just anyone who feels a 3/4-ton or 1-ton is NEEDED for a trailer larger than 25' is badly mistaken.

Just sorta thinking out loud here, but wonder if you would have been satisfied with the truck had you not towed the 25' with it first?

I know I've gotten dissatisfied with a couple of tow vehicles after buying larger and heavier trailers.

Looking at the Ecoboost forums, some of those guys are towing large 5th wheels and SOB trailers. I didn't find any Airstream photos.

It has lots of power, tons of torque, is very comfortable. The tow/ haul mode works well and provides engine braking on downslopes. Cruises at 1800 RPM at 60mph in 6th gear and will haul if you tend to stand on it. Use a Hensley hitch for no reason other than this is what I had and its stable as a rock. We enjoy the setup.

We're towing a 27-ft Safari with our 2013 F-150 Eco-Boost and are pleased and happy with the result. Two weeks ago we made basically the same trip as "Climber" mentioned. From Vancouver across the coast range to the beach. First time using tow/haul mode and it worked well. And we got the same mpg that Climber mentioned--11.4 mpg round trip. Heading to Arizona in three weeks. Hoping for a successful trip there and back.

No I would have come to the same conclusion as I did using it on the 25'. With the 30' the rear end was a little squirrely and I am very particular. The half Tons can do the job, just not for me. I now have an F350 and do not worry about weight, etc. Unlike many I do know the trailer is back there, but I don't need bars if I don't want to bother putting them on, the F350 is that stable.

So, again to answer the question posted originally from my perspective - the Ford F150 Ecoboost is a great choice for a 25'AS. And enjoy

The hubs can speak to the specifics of F-150 Ecoboost, other than it is 2011, but we took our 25FC from Texas to Canada, over the Canadian Rockies and US Rockies, all with no problems at all. We are about to embark on our spring trip with a 2015 F-150 Ecoboost and expect the same stellar performance. He knows what the tow packages are and all of that stuff. I just know it goes where we want it to go without any lag or hesitation at all.
