Exhaust brake Ford Diesel how to turn on?
A friend of mine has a Ford F-250 Super Duty with the 6.7 Diesel. He loves that truck.
But a month or so after he bought it, some tricksters jacked the door lock took all of 22 seconds, per the parking-lot video at the store where the crime occurred *and made off with a few valuables, including, of all things, the two owner's manuals.
Now this Super Duty his is a 2016 has a cab full of buttons and switches, and he can't figure out which one turns on the trailer brake when towing down a long grade.
Anyone know how this is accomplished?

Did your friend look at these door security parts? I think there are other sellers of similar parts.

Thanks for the link to the owner’s manual.
So, that button turns on “hill descent control.”
He will be pleased to know that.
Apparently the F-series door locks that model year were easy pickings. Burglars figured this out and started hunting down trucks to rob.
My buddy upgraded his locks right away.

Not sure which brake you want to turn on. The heading says exhaust brake but the text says trailer brake.
Hill descent is only functional at low speeds and is intended for off-road.
Diesel engine exhaust brake is a button on the dash but isn’t described in the linked manual, you need to look at the diesel supplement manual.
Trailer brake is different again.

22 seconds they must have been amateurs. One of my clients buys recovered stolen trucks that were recovered after the insurance company has already paid the claim, so he buys them from the insurance companies. He showed us how to open a Ford door in a few seconds with no tools, just push the thin door skin in around the plastic latch assembly and reach in with your fingers and lift the lock rod. After that I got Jimmi Jammers for all my doors and next will be a Jimmi Jammer for the hood latch. He told me that these trucks can be opened up and driven away with no key as fast or faster than with a key. These are the trucks with no chip in the key, don't know about the chip ones but the thieves probably have those figured out too.
I also invested in the Cyclops Theft Avoidance Module.

I have a 13 Super Duty. I live in Colorado where 7% downhill grades are common. There is no "exhaust brake" button on my truck.
There are two conditions I establish for the engine brake to help control downhill speed. First, I'm in tow haul mode. Second, the cruise control is set.
The truck needs to know you want a controlled speed, thus the cruise control is on, say 50 mph. It takes my truck a bit of over speed before the transmission downshifts and the exhaust brake becomes effective. I gotta be patient.
A guy can manually downshift a gear or two to also retard down hill speeds.
I understand the hill decent control is for speeds less than 10 mph.
Hope this helps a bit.
