Ecoboost Owners - extend the warrantee?

Ecoboost Owners - your opinion is desired. My 2013 F150 Ecoboost just rolled to 35,000 miles. The vehicle's been fantastic to date both as casual driving and towing of my Airstream. I'd like to see feedback from you if extending the Ford warrantee to 125,000 miles is in your opinion a valid choice. I'm interested especially in hearing what issues you've run into, if any.

I'm not really looking for third party links to rumor sites, or how other vehicles have handled. Interested to know from the ecoboost towing community if you'd spend the monies on the extended warrantee or not?

How about alternatives to Ford, if any?

I have a 2011 Fi50 Ecoboost. No problems. Not going to buy any extended warranty. May buy a new one this year, or next. Have had no problems. We, (my wife and I) really enjoy traveling in this truck.

I have a 2011 F150 EcoBoost and had the 100,000 mile full warranty. Have about 125,000 miles on it now and have really had no problems. Did have an intercooler fail which was covered 100%. Now own a 2015 F150 EcoBoost as well. Bought the extended again just due to 1st year of new model. The only issue I hear that comes up is some turbo maintenance or possible replacement needed when they get up to 150,000+ miles. Mainly that discussion comes from prior experiences with turbos and not specific to EcoBoost.

I have one, I am not inclined to buy an extended warranty any more than I have on any of my other vehicles over the years and I have never bought one. This is the 4th turbo charged vehicle that I have owned over the past 21 years. Knock wood, I have never had one turbo problems nor any other major drivetrain problem and that includes a vehicle that I put 250k on and then sold to my mechanic who put another 100k plus on it without any major issues. I have now jinxed myself LOL.

I have had no issue with my 2013 and now 2015 F150. However I did buy the extended warrantee on my 2015. Google around for example Flood Ford and they offer the extended warrantee at a much lower cost then probably your local Ford dealer will sell it.

Have a 2013 F150 Ecoboost and purchased the extended warranty when new. Have not use it. No problems with the truck at 40,000 miles.

I don't have an Ecoboost currently but I do have some insight into extended warranties on automobiles: they are generally the one of the most profitable items that automakers sell. Which means that they collect way more than they pay out.

I used to have an Ecoboost engine in my Explorer Sport which I used for 50,000 hard miles before I turned it in (lease.) Never had an issue with it. I do have several friends with Ecoboosts in their F-150's and they all love it and so far no one has had any issues.

How much does the warranty cost?
I'm more inclined to stash some cash away in case of a major repair than to give my dealer more money just in case.

Our 2010 Ecoboost Flex is at 90,000km, no issues so far!

We have 2012 F150 Platinum 4X4, with 60K+ miles and extended warranty. No issues other than 3 windshields! MT highways notorious for rocks! Love the truck...can't wait till 2016 model with 10 speed transmission comes out....wishing, hoping... :-)

I have only purchased extended warrantee from dealers during finance discussion...I have been able to get "their cost", but if you do not push back on cost, it can be expensive. In hind sight, with newer technologies, I have not used extended warrantee for anything; in fact, when I got my F150, I still had remaining warrantee from my 2011 Tahoe which I purchased year before....the Ford dealer was able to call the warrantee company (same one they used) and got me credit toward the new one with the 2012 F150! I think of it as insurance....just not sure I need it with newer models.

So overall, its sounds like my best bet is to set aside a savings account; such that if I run into issues, just withdraw from that - otherwise, let it build and accrue interest for use elsewhere -- such as an three bedroom with ensuite jacuzzi extension on the airstream.

Thanks for your feedback everyone - very much appreciated.

Ian
