Driver alert systems

I have been looking at trucks and deciding on options. Most of the new trucks have driver alert systems for collision avoidance and/or lane departure warnings.

I haven't had much luck in google searches to find customer opinions/reviews. Has anyone had experiences with these systems? Are they worth the cost (~900)?

thanks for any help

Peter

I have. On wife's car and my truck. Wife's is proximity on rear bumper and side mirrors. Only on my "backup" on truck.

If you want to not hit someone on a foggy day (foggy weather or brain).. The auto braking may help. But what happens when folks cut you off in traffic? I can't answer.

So, I like them.

As for forward braking... Well the guy behind you should have them, too.

My GMC 2500 Denali has this as standard. It does a great job of warning on lane departure and closing to quickly. Warning is flashing red lights on the windshield, like a heads up display, warning chimes and if turned on vibrates the drivers seat.

I don't know that I would buy it as an option.
