Thanx for the info, Joe. I sure would like to see a diesel Suburban available again. I noticed in the photos that the prototype apperas to have roof and rear fender clearance lights. The only time that we have seen that before was on the Quadrasteer Suburbans because of their over 80" track. Maybe this new diesel Suburban has a wider track.

To my knowledge, the 4.5 was a completely new engine being developed by GM for the 1500 series trucks and 'burbs during the 06-07 time frame. The economic crash wiped it out, at least for next few years.
I ask for a Duramax 2500 at every GM event (mostly factory displays at NASCAR races) and they just look at me and say nope.
I would love one, too.

Chevy is aware of demand for a diesel 'Burban. However, bankruptcy didn't help. 2013 seems like the time frame for when it will be available. It's not supposed to have an Allison trans as this would require lifting the vehicle a couple of inches.
I'm glad to see another story with that one-off in it. It was pretty disappointing that they decided not to build it. I know that, if the specs on the engine are the same as they were before, I would buy one in a heartbeat.
