Death Wobble update / 1 1/2 years later
I just wanted to update everyone on the problem we had back in December of 2019 with my F-250 ford truck. We had a severe death wobble that Ford could not figure out for those of you that remember. We solved the problem by taking my truck to an alignment expert Custom Alignment of Mountain View, CA. They replaced the inferior tierods and struts with Moog parts (just the ends). Moog uses solid steel ball joints as opposed to Fords' rubber and steel joints. The stabilizer shock in the front is irrelevant and will fail again if you replace it.
So yesterday, I had an opportunity to take my truck back and have them retake a look to see if anything had changed. It is a little over 22,000 miles more on the truck since they last corrected the problem. My death wobble seems to happen every 20,000 miles (this happened once before at 21,000 miles).
The verdict? Nothing has changed at all! Alignment was spot on, and the Moog parts had very little wear on them. The front stabilizer shock was tested, and all was good.
Moral of the story is: When Ford tells you we are working on the problem, take your truck to an alignment specialist!
