bed liner for truck

Hi Guys
My new truck needs a bed liner.
Would you install a traditional formed liner or go with the spray on type?
Thanks!

I have had both over the years. Every truck I buy now gets a spray in liner. Spray ins are 100% trouble free and are the way to go.

I have a Rhino liner in my truck - very nice. Line X is also supposed to be a good product.

I agree with Richard.
The plastic inserts make the bed slippery so cargo slides all over. The spray on liners are bullet proof. (well, you get the point)

Bedrug

Here's what I put in mine: BedRug

This is great on the knees.

Thanks guys...I guess I'll have my truck sprayed
Now the next question is are they all pretty much the same? I was thinking about using Rhino Tuffgrip

I had my bed sprayed with Line-X.

Both Rhino and Line-X are good products.

Rhino is a little softer and things don't slide around as much where Line-X is harder.

The biggest difference when I had mine done was the warranty. I can go to any Line-X dealer in the country if it ever needs repair where the Rhino warranty was only good from the dealer that did the install.

Plus, at the time, Line-X was about $100 cheaper than Rhino.

I have never had a spray in liner, but as you can tell those that have like them a lot. I have had two insert liners and have been satisfied with both.

Yes, they are slippery, but they don't scratch the cargo if it does slip and they spring back if something slides around enough to dent the interior of the bed so you don't see a dent...at least I never saw a dent if I ever got one in my first truck (12 years and 180K miles) and so far none in my '05 after hauling a 1,000 LBS golf cart that hit the front of the bed kind of hard a couple of times. Each has its own benefits.

I have the Line-X in my F250 - I would not change a thing. One less thing to maintain - with drop ins you "should" remove them and wash under them to remove the grit that builds up - most people don't.

My Line-X dealer has made 2 repairs that were not the fault of the product - One was a replacement of the tailgate after a rear end bump from an accident, the other was post Katrina and helping haul alot of trash to the dump. Both were free of charge - the tail gate was on his time and he held it for 3 days until he built up enough spray booth time to make it worth his effort.

An added note

We use Line-X in certain areas of the fire engines such as compartments where we need abrasion and chip resistance under tools. We also put it under chainsaws and other power tools. The fuels or oils that spill do not affect it.
I can't compare Linex with Rhino, never used it.

I had Line-X put in my F250 when I purchased it in 1990, after owning 2 trucks with those slide-in type liners. I'd never get a new truck again without having a sprayed in liner.

I also had a thick rubber mat put over the sprayed in liner on my tailgate, which is much easier on the knees. I'm not sure who made this mat, but it may have been Husky, since I also got Husky floor mats for the cab at the same time.

I think I've decided on the Rhino Tuffgrip
With a Costco promo it will cost 400.00 (450.00 - 50.00)
Sound about the right price?
Rhino now offers a "nationwide" warranty
Thanks!

O yeah...one more thing

might as well hear the rest of the story......
bought the truck WITH the bedliner included
scheduled to install bedliner the following week....got there..no bedliner ordered
scheduled to install again......damaged bedliner but installed anyway by the dealer
NOW would you
1) just get rid of the damaged bedliner and have the bed sprayed
2) have the bedliner replaced (by the dealer) use it and then spray at a later date
The dealer does not do the spray on bedliner

Boy.... this trailer/tv thing sure is fun! (just look at all of my previous posts)

I have the Rhino lining and am very happy with it. It has been in the truck for about 6 years.

Pay the few extra bucks and get the Line -X, you'll thank yourself later and no they are not all the same.

I have Line-X. Truck less than 2 years old but so far very pleased. Have read quite a few complaints about drop in liners. Water gets in under the liner and the truck bed starts to rust. Rhino seems to be a good product too. If you can find out about the reputation of the installer.

Rino Liner is softer than Line-x and is more likje cottagecheese. Line-X is harder and less textured and will fade less. Both good but in my opinion Line-X is better. Read the reviews on TheDieselStop.Com - www.thedieselstop.com forums all trucks 24/7. I have Line-X in the bed of my F350
