Are all controllers created equal?

I've never bought a brake controller before and see there are huge differences in price. Are some controllers that much better, fancier, tastier, nicer aroma than others, or what should a person look for? I have a 2007 Tacoma with a 21' 1994 Sovereign for a trailer. I do know I want something that is easy to get hooked up, say just plug in and go maybe. Any and all thoughts welcome.

I have had several types and brands over the years, but absolutely love my Direclink. There are some other nice units out there and others will chime in.

I am convinced you get what you pay for in the realm of brake controllers. I am a recent convert to a Maxbrake controller. It is leaps and bounds better than my old Prodigy. It is one of the pricier ones but it can be fine tuned. Adjust once at setup, again when you initially hook your trailer and your done. For the first time I actually feel like there are decent trailer brakes behind me.
