Anyone towing with 2024 Landcruiser?
Hi
Looking for some real world experience of anyone who has purchased the new Landcruiser and towed with it. Interested to know how it has been and what are your hates and loves about the experience? Also what have you towed with it?
Thanks,
Mike

I've been watching, thus far I've seen several using a GX550, especially the Overtrail version, as it can tow the most. Have yet to see the 4-cyl variant w/ an Airstream...
Most are stopping at a 23FB, or smaller, for towing w/ those; if you have a 25FB, I'd suggest larger.

A quick search of your vehicle says its got 6K weight limit and a 4 cylinder, probably turbo? I dont know.
It's not a good tow vehicle for any more than a basecamp or 19-20 footer at best with those specs.
If there are other engine packages on this model, you should be specific about flavor your talking about.
Nobody needs to actually own one of these to know if it is a good tow vehicle. It's easy to determine.
Tow Your 25 Footer? The answer is no.

If you haven’t already, do a quick search on towing with an SUV and/or with a Landcruiser. (If you’ve already done that search, ignore my post ). You’ll get lots of good information on various setups from folks who actually tow with something other than a truck. While quite possible that no one has direct experience with that particular Landcruiser, many people do tow 23’s and 25’s with Landcruiser’s, Audi’s, Porche’s, etc., and can give you relevant info/ advice.

The US does not get a real landcruiser. We get the landcruiser prado, the same platform as the smaller GX and similiar to the 4runner. The Lexus LX is a proper 300 series cruiser. I would go with a used v8 Toyota over any of those.

Which confirms what I said that the OP wants to ignore. A 4 Runner is not a good tow vehicle for a large travel trailer either. And neither is any other small or Mid-size SUV. The numbers don't lie, even if the OP wants to.

2013 LX 570 + 2015 International 27FB
I'm a single female, 5'5", 110 lbs. I've been towing a 27FB with a 2013 Lexus LX 570 for almost 10 years. No issues, able to pass on hills, drove from Denver to UT then AZ over I-70 with a broken arm. It is very manageable for me. I do use a BlueOx Sway Pro hitch -- the old one -- the new "Airstream" one looks better. I chose this because it was relatively light and I could pick it up. The dealer set me up with 750lb bars and I immediately drove back and changed to the 1,000lb bars. The large side mirrors on the car are perfect for me, no extenders required. I drove without a backup camera for several years and once I got one I laughed because I see the cars in my mirrors way before they register on the backup camera.
I didn't want a big truck as a daily driver and I love the Toyota quality. There are a couple things to be aware of:
(1) gas mileage on my year is about 8-9 mpg when towing, maybe 10 if you stick to 55-ish. It works out to a gas station stop about every 3 hours. You definitely need to plan for this. I have the dog so it works out well for him.
(2) vehicle payload is low ~1300. I travel with me driving and a 120 lb GSD in a Kennel in the rear with his 40lbs of food. I have done a trip with family once that included 5 adults and 3 dogs (AZ to MN) it was my first voyage, went fine. CAT scales came in at a smidge over 14,000. I don't recommend this on the regular. If you have a big family and a lot of gear get a difference vehicle.
I am very happy with my setup for my situation. I also make sure that the car gets serviced every 6 months and everything is checked out.
An Airstream rally showed up at a campground I was staying at once and everyone had a pickup except for me with the LX, one Porsche Cayenne, and one BMW X5 or X7 -- all were towing 27's.
Do what feels right for you, know your limits and travel safe.

There is a lot of difference between your LX570 (aka Tank) and the “new” Land Cruiser. I agree with what you're doing as the LX570 is an amazing vehicle. Not so much with the 4Runner related LC...
