Being low rivet member I am cautious to ask a tow vehicle question but you only live once.
We recently purchased a 1999 Safari 25 which came with a Hensley Arrow. We picked it up with a 3.7 V6 F150 with a 3.73 axle ratio which we currently own. I installed the OEM brake controller as well as solid rubber suspension supports. Drove 4 hours up I95 in flat Florida. Felt way under powered as I had suspected.
We are planning our first trip which will be minimum 3 months with possibly going full time.
I test drove a 2012 Ram 2500 ST 5.7, a 2014 F-150 V8 and a 2017 F150 3.5 Ecoboost. We are in the used market and I am having a very difficult time finding and F250 short bed Super cab or crewcab in our budget.
The RAM is the smallest 3/4 ton I have found with good dollar to mileage ratio. It was used at a dealership to haul parts around. I prefer the F150 for looks and mpg but I like the 2900 payload on the RAM as well as well.
I have read SOOO MANY discussions about TVs for 25 footers and it seems to be on the cusp of 1/2 ton to 3/4 ton.
Figure the minimum payload we could deal with would be 1900. So any advice on these vehicles would be great. Also if some one is towing with the F150 5.0 V8 what is your best mis towing?
Take a look at the Nissan Titan XD. Has the payload on par with most half tons, but the curb weight of a 3/4 ton so is super stable as a tow vehicle. Price should be way more affordable than a 3/4 ton. We used to tow a 2014 25EB and now tow a 2017 30RB. Had ours for coming up on 2-years.
Ours has the 5L Cummins in it, but their 5.6L gasser could be a good chance depending on your needs.
