The NV3500 SL Passenger van is a tow horse. 5 year/100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty just like the Titan trucks. 9400 LBS GVW, 8700 LBS tow rating, 2500 LBS cargo capacity (even with all those seat in there). These things come with seating for 12. Remove all that extra seating, about 700 LBS worth , and you have a spacious, secure tow monster. My good friend took delivery of a brand new one yesterday. He loves it and it will tow his 23" SOB with ease. There are some available on the used market. You want a 2017 or newer as lots of upgrades were made to the engine. The cargo versions have an even higher tow rating and a payload capacity close to 4000 LBS depending on body model. Get one soon!
Thanks for the warning! Do you have any experience with its durability? Would you anticipate.problems getting parts, service, etc. Should I look at full size Chevy vans... Toyota got anything that crosses from Tundra to heavy van?

Love the 3/4 ton GMC Savana Passenger Van

An option you can consider is the 3/4 ton GMC Savana Passenger van.

We have a 2020 2500 GMC Savana Passenger van with 6.0L V8 Vortec engine, automatic locking rear differential and heavy-duty trailering equipment.

You can then send the van to either Quigly or Advanced 4X4 to have it converted to a 4X4.

We spent $35,000USD on the GMC and paid $11,000 to have it converted to a 4X4. So total we spent less than $50,000USD.

We live in Oregon and drive the mountains all the time and have taken the trailer to Whistler and Kamloops, BC.

It never missed a beat and you can carry 8 people with a ton of stuff (my husband likes to bring the go-cart.......ugh).

The GMC 2500 Savana Passenger van with that configuration can tow close to 10,000lbs.

Love the GMC

Savana towing

Nice setup. The 2021 Models of the Express/Savana will have the new 6.2 engine. Major upgrade and should make it even more capable.

While the new engine has great specs - 401 horsepower and 464 foot pounds of torque, there will be no change to the tow ratings.

The Tahoe or Suburban and the GMC and Cadillac versions would be great for your ‘59 Trade Wind .

I saw a beautiful classic "truck" yesterday. It was a fully restored 1972 Chevy El Camino with the big V-8. For 3 seconds I drooled, then remembered

I owned one in 1974 and loved it ...
Then it snowed.
The "donut queen" lifted her skirts and really showed her stuff. I quickly figured out that I should get off the road and start rolling snowballs and shove them in until the bed was full! 600 lbs. Of snow and ice and lo, I had something resembling traction. I could creep cautiously home with a reasonable degree of certainty that my front and rear wheels would stay in the same lane.

Reminded me once again that form should follow function, but doesn't always do so. I have camped enough to know that grass, clay, mud, snow, spilled oil or fuel are just a few things that can make wheels lose traction. I like the NV 3500, but if it isn't available in 4 WD that is a deal killer. The El Camino might tow better than it drove... with all that extra weight on the back end.

I am going to practice loving my 2013 GMC duramax. Guess I will buy a cap, add steps to the doors (for my knees) and the tailgate, and maybe even put in a cargo lift for the heavy stuff.

Paula

Oh and then there was a 70s vintage Jaguar XKE 2+2. Only $169,000.
Champagne tastes, beer budget.
