the main reason I have 4x4 is I live in WI, and you either have front wheel drive or 4x4 drive or it is going to be a very long winter. It’s not about towing, it’s about using the truck when not towing. But if you live in the south, you aren’t going to get crazy about wanting to go to difficult place, a 2WD should work.

But a friend of mine and I watched as someone was backing up their trailer and it wasn’t going very smoothly due to being on gravel and going up a hill. We commented, “Why doesn’t he put it in 4x4 low. It would make it much easier.”

He made it, but....

I used my 4WD truck last week to back the trailer into a steep uphill forest service campsite at Coldwater Creek Campground near Mammoth Mountain. The last 50 feet can be the most challenging.
