2021 Tahoe 4WD with Max Tow

I too have a 2021 Tahoe - it has 4WD and the Max Tow Package. Attached are the door stickers and the hitch sticker. Not sure if the vehicle you mentioned is 4WD or not but the numbers should be fairly close.

Using that one as an example, it has the trailer weight as 8200lbs, tongue weight as 820lbs (10%), and a payload of 1596lbs.

That's a great payload number. I have been looking at a 4WD Yukon Denali XL and its 1429, which is a little tight for us.

So, yeah, if the door sticker says 840, and the trailer's tongue truly is at 904 on the nose, then they'd be 64lb over. Not the worst one out there, but, over...
Yes, but you still need to add the weight of the occupants, the stuff they bring along. "Over is Over"! If their involved in an accident their claim could be denied if "overweight" can be established plus they open themselves to liability towards others that may be involved. And, finally, if they are weighed by the law and found to be over they will pay a stiff fine and could possibly be parked. It's not worth it. Ask me how I know!

Sounds as if you had a bad personal experience with this. Sorry if this is the case. If you don't mind sharing a bit more, it would be helpful. I am driving myself crazy trying to find an appropriate large SUV that works within the limits. I know that these ratings are all conservative and there are plenty of good vehicles that could safely tow it, but I am concerned with the legality & liability of being slightly over and caught in an accident. Our current vehicle tows like a dream and wouldn't even think of changing if it weren't for the fact we are techinically over the limit stated on the sticker. Thanks.
