2019 Silverado / Sierra Side-View Mirrors?

Here is a photo with the Chevy 2020 HD Silverado Trucks that shows what the new mirrors look like. Note the stepped attachment to the door. The press release and some additional pictures are here. I'm sure that these mirrors will fit the 1500 series and will be offered optionally from the factory by 2020. They also may be rolled into the NHT Max Trailering Package for 2020.

On a side note, though the engine looks to be stunning the front end is friggin' ugly! Oh well, I guess you don't see it from the drivers seat!

Thanks for the update. I read the associated article and examined the picture of the 2020 HD as well as the 2019 1500. As I suspected the sheet metal of the 1500 and 2500 (HD) is going to be different going forward. The article even says this:

Built at the Flint Assembly plant in Flint, Mich., the new Silverado HD’s design has a bold, sculpted form that follows its enhanced heavy-duty function, differentiating it from the light-duty Silverado. In fact, the 2020 Silverado HD exterior shares only the roof with its Silverado 1500 stablemate — every other piece of sheet metal is exclusive to Silverado HD.

Similar sheet metal distinctions are being made between Silverado and Sierra 1500's. In the past, just the grill and some minor exterior and interior changes distinguished the Chevrolet from its GMC brethren. But the introduction of the 2019 body style indicates the two are going in slightly different directions. It's only slight changes for the current model year but I suspect the changes between Silverado and Sierra may become more pronounced in subsequent years.

So while I'm still hopeful that the mid-year 2019 1500 or perhaps the 2020 will have conventional towing mirrors they probably will not be the same as those on the HD because the sheet metal panels are not the same.

It's too early for aftermarket mirror suppliers to have their products out yet but I'm really hoping somebody is taking note of this deficiency on the 1500 model and the issue will be addressed soon.

I've read here that some are hopeful that trailer mirrors will be offered in the future; dont hold your breathe. They are not offered because of the fuel economy impact on light trucks which effects CAFE. HD pickups are considered commercial vehicles are not covered by CAFE. Aftermarket I'm sure will have something in the future. Automakers are moving to eliminate all mirrors on all pass cars in the future and that includes trucks. Also the new HD GM pickups are completely different from the LTs.

So... Back to my original question - is there anyone out there with a 2019 Silverado/Sierra 1500 with max trailering? Please elaborate on your experience with the "towing" mirrors (i.e. cameras)

I just saw an article on GM Authority addressing this very subject. The large towing mirrors will be available for the 2020 year model for Chevrolet and GMC Trucks. The mirrors are not completely identical with those for the heavy duty (2500/3500) models.

Now, GM Authority website has actually published some pictures of the 1500 Sierra/Silverado Series Large Towing Mirrors. They appear to be the same mirrors as the 2500/3500 series trucks with the exception that they have a slightly different base where the mirrors mount on the doors.

The Silverado has gone backwards this redo. Wowzers they’re ugly.
