2019 Mercedes GSL 450 Tow Connector

I recently purchased a 2019 Mercedes GLS 450 with factory tow package. The receptacle on the tow vehicle has ridges on the inside of it, which prevents me from plugging in the power supply cord. I went to the Airstream Store in Gulfport, Mississippi and they had never seen one like it. Does anyone know if there is any type of adapter that I can purchase to connect, or have a suggestion to remedy this problem? Are there other GLS owners who have encountered this problem?

Are you sure that it is a 7 pin, not 4? My 2016 GL came with tow package but did not include 7 pin, just 4. Had to buy the 7 pin from Mercedes dealer and have them install

MB wants you to buy their custom cable.

IMHO, either grind the tabs off, or
replace the connector with an high quality industry standard one.

The AS dealer can do that for you

If it is like the other German makes then an MB Dealer will have the correct receptacle and you can change it your self with a screw driver. I would call them. The receptacle you have is the base unit and designed to accept several types of inserts depending on what is required. By that I mean 4 pin, 7 pin or whatever they use in Europe. If your trailer has LED lights then you will also need an adapter to make a brake controller work correctly. You can get that from Etrailer.
