2019 GMC Sierra Denali 1500

Here is a YouTube video with some of the highlites of the 2019 Sierra Denali 1500.

It has some interesting features, like a carbon fiber bed and some trailer towing specific screens that contain checklists, camera views for hookup, a means of checking trailer tire pressure on the consul, rear camera view from the trailer camera, etc.

The tailgate has some different features as well.

Plus, it is hooked up to an Airstream in the video!

You'll have a little time to decide as they will not be available until the fall.

I thought the automatic trailer light sequence test that can be activated by your smart phone was a nice touch!

Lots of features but nothing mentioned yet about the grunt from under hood. Nice to see attention to towing bells n whistles.

Thatís the Denali ... beyond my social class.

I wonder how long it will take for some of those features to show up in a workingmanís pickup?

Like to see some of the specs.

Too bad the 10-speed wonít come in trucks with the 5.3-liter engine.

I found this in an article about the new Sierra, "As for engines, buyers are looking at the 5.3-liter V8 that made 355 hp last year, the 6.2-liter V8 that made 420 hp and a new 3.0-liter I6 turbodiesel. Outputs for 2019 havenít been revealed yet. The 6.2 and diesel will come with a ten-speed automatic; the 5.3 will probably get last yearís eight-speed."

Not sure what that means

I like that GM is starting to adopt and deploy some Ďcurrentí technology in its truck lineup.

When this tech + interior re-design hits the 2500HD series (2020?) count me in, Iíll swap out my current 2017 duramax diesel

Progress!

I like all the attention paid to trailering. The cameras seem well thought out except for the cab roof one which will be rendered useless with the addition of a canopy which a lot of campers use.

It's for 5th wheel and gooseneck hitching, primarily. That precludes a cap installation.

I agree — GM looks to be doing a lot for those pulling trailers. Even had tire monitors for the load out back (have to install in-wheel sensors, though, it appears; perhaps you could choose use the screw-on ones).

But, that rearview camera ... if I get a truck, I'm putting on a cap. Camera would not work.

I hope by the time the truck nears production the GM engineers can fix that. Just put the camera on a little bump up should do it.

Regarding transmissions, if the 5.3-liter engine gets the 8-speed, that'd be good. Heck, that's double the gearing options I have now.

There are some out there, yes. The wireless system presently in use crosses all 1500 - 3500 series, as this one will.
